Hey there,

This is Morten from Heroku. Hopefully some of you know of Heroku
already - if not, check us out a http://heroku.com.

I'm going to be making my way home to Denmark for some much needed
vacation in early
August. I'm just going to be a short trip from Amsterdam, so if
there's a
user group meeting I'd be happy to come by and chat/do
a little presentation. Also, if there's need for a sponsor, Heroku
might be able to do that too.

Best,

Morten

Hi there Morten!

First of all, congratulations for Heroku! You and your team managed to
create a very intriguing and interesting Software platform for
developing and deploying web applications.

We usually meet the last Monday of every month but we arrange special
meetups with special presentations from time to time. Let's see what
can we arrange for this time.

Best regards,
Javier.-

Hi Morten,

What Julio said. :) Heroku looks pretty cool, so

In Amsterdam we usually meet at the last monday of the month in a pub,
where we drink beer (or ice tea) and discuss a lot of topics. The
Dutch Ruby community is interested in a wide set of topics that extend
beyond Ruby, so these beer nights are usually fun, interesting and
informative. Every once in a while someone decides to arrange a
location so we can do presentations. This happens about 3 times a
year, I think.

On the first monday of the month we do the same in Utrecht
(Utrecht.rb) and on the second monday of the month we have a codefest
in the public library of Amsterdam. The focus on these codefests is
more on writing code and showing code than on socializing, but off
course socializing happens as well.

I'm always up for meeting interesting people, so count me interested.

Cheers,

Wes

Hey guys,

Thanks for the interest. So, the first Monday of August is booked for
me (aarhus.rb in Denmark). The rest of that week and the next looks
pretty open for now.

Best,

Morten

Hi,

I think this is an excellent reason to throw an other hosted
amsterdam.rb meeting! I would love to hear your experience on building
something as sophisticated as Heroku Morten.

I think nobody would object if we'd held the amsterdam.rb meeting on
the second Monday of the month, that is the 10th of August.

I'm thinking along the lines of the previous hosted .rb meetings with
less presentations which leaves time to talk and socialize. I'd say,
in addition to Morten's presentation, one or two more. The location is
to be determined. I'll get back to you guys asap!

With kind regards,
Harm

Hi Harm,

My thoughts exactly! The only issue I still can find a solution during the weekend is the place where to host the meeting. Any ideas?

Best regards,
Javier.-

Hey Morten,

I'd like to offer Innovation Factory's facilities to hold a slightly-
earlier-than-usual Amsterdam.rb evening on August the 10th to fit in
with your schedule.

Our office is right next to the Vondel Park in Amsterdam and is easily
accessible from the train station or airport via trams/walking/cycling.

If you would like any more information, then please let me know.

Sam

Hi there everybody!

First of all, thanks Sam and Innovation Factory for providing location for the next special event!

Now, I consider that we should be looking for one or two more speakers maximum for this event. Due to the richness of Heroku, I also consider it'd be great to let Morten take his time in his presentation so we can really profit from his experience and ask a lot of questions.

I really don't know yet but Blake Mizerany (also a co-founder of Heroku and creator of Sinatra Web Framework) has told me yesterday he would like to come as well. If that's happens, this event would be even more interesting! Don't forget, this is not yet confirmed or even defined so ... but still, it's cool! :)

I want to read your comments about this!!!

Best regards,
Javier.-
