Altshul will meet Friday, February 19th for Kabbalat Shabbat and
Maariv at 6:30 pm in the Beth Elohim Rotunda, downstairs in the
Sanctuary Building, 274 Garfield Place, Brooklyn, NY 11215.
2) Purim Social Action, Sunday 2/21
THIS Sunday, February 21st: Bake Hamentaschen and Pack Mishloach Manot
(Gift Bags) for Cobble Hill Health Center!
In honor of Purim, come bake hamentaschen and pack mishloach manot
(gift bags) to donate to the residents at the Cobble Hill Health
Center, a nursing home in Carroll Gardens. Please bring packable food
items (e.g. granola bars, organges, raisin boxes, etc). This event is
sponsored by the Social Action/Social Justice Committee.

Altshul will meet Shabbat morning, February 27th, in the Rabbi’s
Office at Congregation Beth Elohim, 274 Garfield Place, Brooklyn, NY
11215. Kindershul will start at the beginning of the torah service
4) Purim Megillah Readings, Motzei Shabbat 2/27 and Sunday Morning
2/28
Altshul will be hosting services and megillah reading both the night
and the morning of Purim. Services will take place Saturday 2/27 at 7
pm, and Sunday 2/28 at 10 am. We will also be sponsoring a party
after the evening reading. If you are interested in helping to plan
any aspect of the celebration, please contact in...@altshul.org.
CBE ANNOUNCEMENT
5) Hebrew Discussion at CBE
I'm a VP at CBE and chair of the Jewish Learning Committee. This is to
let you know that next Tuesday, 2/23, we're having a meeting at 7:30
PM to see if there is enough interest to have a regular group program
to get together and practice conversational Hebrew. This is not a
class and there won't be a teacher. For now, it's just a way for those
of us who are students of the language to get together and practice.
If there is enough interest, we may consider showing films or engaging
a native speaker to help facilitate the program, but we're not at that
point..

9) Jewish Funds for Justice Community organizing Residency
Interested in a career in meaningful social change work? The
Community Organizing Residency (COR), is a new initiative of the
Jewish Funds for Justice. COR is a six-month, paid residency for
people from Jewish, Muslim, Christian and other faith backgrounds who
want to make community organizing their profession. Residents will
gain social justice experience working with leading organizing groups
in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay
Area. The Application Deadline is April 2, 2010; the application and
