Altshul will meet Shabbat morning, April 24th, in the Rabbi’s
Office at Congregation Beth Elohim, 274 Garfield Place, Brooklyn, NY
11215. Kindershul will start at the beginning of the torah service.

4) Bikkur Cholim for Jess Nemoy
Following an accident, Altshul member Jess Nemoy is at the Lutheran
Medical Center (Brooklyn at 55th St and 2nd Ave) in room 3224. She's
very happy to have visitors, and the best time to visit is between 4pm
and 8pm. She can't talk at the moment, but can write and respond to
text messages. If anyone would like any more information, please e-

5) CBE Gala Dinner
As you all know, Altshul has greatly benefited from the hospitality of
Congregation Beth Elohim (CBE), meeting there rent-free for several
years. On May 6, CBE will be holding a gala dinner to celebrate and
raise funds for the synagogue buildings, which need very serious
repairs. Altshul would like to purchase a table or two for the dinner,
and we hope you will consider making a donation toward this end.
We know that many of you made donations last fall to help with the
sanctuary repairs, and we appreciate your generosity. CBE has been
Altshul's home for several years and helping to maintain and sustain
this building is a way of us showing our appreciation and connecting
with the CBE community.

6) Become an Altshul Shammash
Altshul is currently recruiting shamashim for the upcoming year,
starting on June 1. Shamashim are responsible for coordinating the
week-to-week operations of the minyan, from the services and kiddushes
to working with Altshul committee volunteers. If you are interested in

Festival for Budrus, a new film by the producers of Encounter Point.
Budrus is a documentary about Palestinians and Israelis working to
forge a nonviolent future for popular activism in the West Bank.

Monday, May 13, 7:00 PM - ENCOUNTER POINT, a documentary about the
everyday leaders in our midst. The film follows a former Israeli
settler, a Palestinian ex-prisoner, a mourning Israeli mother and a
wounded, bereaved Palestinian brother as they risk their lives and
public standing to promote a nonviolent end to the conflict. Their
journeys lead them to confront hatred within their respective
communities. Locations: Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Downtown,
and Brooklyn. Seating is limited (5-15 per screening). Sign up by

9) AJWS Dvar Tzedek Fellowship
American Jewish World Service is accepting applications for the Dvar
Tzedek Lisa Goldberg Memorial Writers' Fellowship for 5771 /
2010-2011. AJWS Dvar Tzedek Fellows receive a modest stipend and write
weekly Torah commentaries relating to the Jewish imperative for social
justice. The Dvar Tzedek currently reaches over 5,000 people a week
over e-mail.

All games are played on Parkville’s Pfield on 65th Street bet. 8th and
9th Avenues in Brooklyn.
The team does not play or practice on Shabbat.

beautiful space in the heart of the Slope; located right on 5th Ave
and 1st St.. It's a tri-level, meaning that the bedroom has a loft
feel, with steps leading down to the main hardwood floor. It has high
ceilings, arched windows, gas range, and a spiral staircase leading
down to the full sized basement, which can be used for a second
