11215. Kindershul will start at the beginning of the torah service.

The next meeting of Altshul's social action / social justice committee

Thank you to everyone who participated in Purim Social Action / Social
Justice events!
Over Purim, Altshulers donated $773 raised for matanot leyvonim,
prepared 30 Mishloach Manot bags for the Cobble Hill Health Center,
and 51 people registered with Gift of Life as potential cheeks bone
marrow donors. Thank you to everyone who participated!
6) Thanks to Everyone who Helped Make Purim a Success
Thank you to everyone who helped make purim a success, including all
of the davenners, leiners and gabbais; Ayelet and Miri who organized
the bone marrow registry; the Social Action/Social Justice Committee
which coordinated matanot l’evyonim; Eytan and Jacob who let us get
Socially Active all over their apartment; and Liora who baked
hamentaschen for everyone.

7) Israeli GLBT Activist at CBE 3/7
Mike Hamel, chairperson of the Aguda, The National Association of GLBT
in Israel, will be speaking in Brooklyn on Sunday, March 7, from 11
a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth Elohim, 274 Garfield Place.
Mr. Hamel is a leading authority on the human and social rights of
the GLBT community in Israel. He will be accompanied by youths who
were involved with the horrible shooting that took place last August
in the Gay Youth Center in Tel Aviv.
This event is co-sponsored by Congregation Beth Elohim, the New
Israel Fund, and several other groups
8) Jewish Funds for Justice Community Organizing Residency
Interested in a career in meaningful social change work? The
Community Organizing Residency (COR), is a new initiative of the
Jewish Funds for Justice. COR is a six-month, paid residency for
people from Jewish, Muslim, Christian and other faith backgrounds who
want to make community organizing their profession. Residents will
gain social justice experience working with leading organizing groups
in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay
Area. The Application Deadline is April 2, 2010; the application and
