matters to anyone, I made some mistakes on the soloists' names for this
weekend's May 11 Washington Bach Consort performance of the St. Matthew

I'll be singing this Friday and Saturday, January 11 and 12, 2008 at 8:00 PM with the vocal ensemble Orpheus (Philip Cave, artistic director) in a concert featuring the 1605 Requiem Mass of Tomás Luis de Victoria. We will join Folger Consort instrumentalists Robert Eisenstein and Christopher Kendall, and the Renaissance wind band Piffaro. The program will also include two vocal works by Philippe Rogier - Verbum caro a 12 and Laudate Dominum - along with instrumental works from the Spanish Renaissance. And all in the glorious setting of the Washington National Cathedral!

Happy New Year 2008! If one of your New Year's resolutions is to go out and hear more live music, this will get you started on the right path, with only as little damage to your pocketbook as you deem. (That means it's a free concert, but donations are gratefully accepted).
But first, some altodiva news. I was told by a few people that there was a brief clip of me on NBC News singing at the National Shrine on Christmas morning. Did anyone Tivo the 12/25/2007 NBC Nightly News who can send me a copy of that segment? I also appeared in December on the cable television program "Curtain Call" with mandolinist Neil Gladd in a 30-minute concert. They have promised me a DVD, and you can be assured that there will soon be a video page on my website with highlights.

I'll be singing with the Washington Bach Consort this Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 12:10 PM in a lunchtime performance of J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 196, Der Herr denket an uns. Although there is not actually an alto solo in this cantata, the work will be performed with one singer on each part in the two choruses. Scott Dettra will be the guest conductor, and J. Reilly Lewis will play continuo organ. Julie Vidrich Evans will also play the Toccata and Fugue in d minor (BWV 565) as a prelude to the cantata. If you happen to work in downtown DC, I hope you'll be able to sneak away from the office for a rejuvenating Bach break at the Church of the Epiphany. Here are the details:

I can hardly believe the summer is over, but it's never too soon to get back to the important things of life - singing Bach! The Washington Bach Consort will open up the 2007-2008 season on September 26 with a performance of J.S. Bach's monumental B Minor Mass. I'll be singing this Saturday, July 7 at 7:00 PM in a concert to benefit the 2008 Washington Early Music Festival. I don't exactly have comps for this event, but we may be able to make a trade: volunteers are needed for helping with the reception, including clean up, for selling CDs, and for ushering. It would be great if you could volunteer *and* pay for your ticket, but if 30 bucks is way outside of your budget and you still want to support this event and the WEMF, let me know and we can work something out.
