הכנס הזה לא דומה לכנסים אחרים שאתם מכירים.
לא מדובר בהרצאות פרונטליות, בהן מספר מצומצם של אנשים בא ללמד את המשתתפים, אלא בדיוני "שולחן עגול".
התכנים נקבעים על ידי המשתתפים (זה כולנו) ולא על ידי המארגנים בלבד.
לכן חשוב להגיע לפגישת התכנון - אז יקבעו תכני הדיונים ליום שישי.
מי שרוצה ללמוד עוד על הפורמט מוזמן להיכנס ללינקים שמופיעים בהמשך, ו/או לחפש על ALT.NET ו ALT.NET conf במנוע החיפוש החביב עליכם (גוגל, cuil, delver, live, yahoo ושאר החבורה)
תחומי עניין:
מטרת הכנס והקהילה בכלל היא לעורר שיתוף ידע והתדיינות פתוחה בין חברי הקבוצה.
על מנת לסייע בכך, נבקש מכל אחד מהמשתתפים לשלוח לקבוצה הזו (או אלי לדואל) את הפרטים הבאים:
1. שם המשתמש איתו אתם מזוהים ברשימת הדיוור הזו
2. שם אמיתי בעברית (או כינוי בו מכירים אתכם - כמו של Ayende Rahien למשל)
3. כלי פיתוח מעולם ה .net בו יש למשתתף מומחיות מיוחדת ו/או עניין מיוחד (על מנת לעזור ביצירת דיונים סביב נושאים אלו)
אנו נשתדל שיופקו מדבקות עם השם ותחומ/י העניין, שכל אחד ידביק על חולצתו במהלך הכנס
וכך המשתתפים יוכלו לפנות בשאלות האחד לשני במהלך ההפסקות, בזמן האוכל, בדרך לשירותים או בפקקים בדרך הביתה
עזרה:
למי שיש ויכול להביא מצלמות לתיעוד האירוע (גם סטילס אבל עדיף וידאו דיגיטלי) זה יהיה מצויין. המטרה היא להעלות וידאו של כל מפגש ומפגש לאתרי השיתוף השונים. גם מצלמת סטילס דיגיטלית שיודעת לצלם וידאו סביר על כרטיס הזיכרון באה בחשבון.

בימים הקרובים נפרסם קישור להרשמה. שמרו על עין פקוחה והירשמו בהקדם (עם פרסום הקישור) כי מספר המקומות מוגבל בסופו של דבר.
אז למי שמגיע לכנס - נתראה שם, ולמי שלא - נתראה בפעם הבאה.

and as Avishay has gently put it, last year's site was not too friendly (and you you think you had hard time with it, the you should have tried the admin panel ..:( ~=>)#$%)
and as we organizers do this on our scarce free time, the quickest solution was to facebook the thing.
Omer - I guess you'd have to join the evil forces of civilization and get a facebook account ...

anyway, as this is a free event, and the attendees are only required to arrive (and take part in discussions), I really think that using a FB account is not too much of an added effort.
If someone does not want to invest that little bit, what can I say.
It's an open community. Next time, if anyone else would step in and arrange another meeting, s/he's invited to choose whichever signup mechanism s/he likes.

So, all you have to do is tell facebook to allow non-facebook guests and, possibly, explicitly invite the members of this list.
I took the liberty of inviting Rauchy using his email address. He now appears on the "not yet replied" list, which he of course can't see, but is visible to us facebookers.
Ken, please try to find an option to make the event page itself visible for non-logged in members - this should be possible and not too hard, and would serve as a good compromise IMHO.

I'll send an email invitation to anyone how would like. I still don't get why is it that difficult to singup to FB if only for registering into the event. If you won't add friends etc, and use a secondary email address, then you won't get spanked/poked/bitten/whatever so it's a no hassle way.
*and* it made my life as an organiser *way* simpler.
and it really helps with publicising the event. FB can reach relevant people that does not read our blogs, and are a great fit to the community

The repercussions of opening a facebook account are simlpy too major for it to be considered an easy choice.
Personally, I think this issue has outlived its debate potential. There was probably a better way to do it initially, but hell, this was the simplest thing that could possibly work, and we can refactor it for the next meeting.
If the 10% of Israeli Alt.NETters that aren't on Facebook just RSVP informally on the mailing list, I'm pretty sure Ken could handle it. I mean, it's not like you're selling tax-deductible tickets with varying prices by row and seat, right? :)

I would like to say that facebook has improved and now offers the option to be non-searchable.
That way no-one (in facebook) will know you exist!

As people have already confirmed (or declined) their participation, (and I'm talking about the vast majority of the community), I think that it would be silly to change the registration process now.
What people are saying is that because a (very) small portion of the community does not want to use FB, we should force the majority to use what the minority think is right.
imo it is totally against the spirit of an open community.
And as a side note - I find it extremely bizarre that someone would fear putting some personal info (which can easily be unpublicised) into a well known, highly respected service (which can be set to 'do-not-nag-me'), however finding it acceptable to give their email address to a small website, which has a very obvious purpose of *selling* you tickets.
bottom line - the registration for this event is on FB.
should someone want to confirm and does not have a FB account, and does not want to create one under no circumstance, plz send me an email and I will send you an email-based invitation to the event.
