Chat Mechanism

Hi All,

What sort of chat mechanism (IM) you use to communicate with other
developers?

Anyone interested in giving their user name and IM type so all of us
can add each other?

For devs on my team that are not on the same location, I've used
mostly IM and Campfire. I like campfire a lot.
I'm starting to use GoTo Meeting as well, it seems pretty good.

We use Google Talk.  One bonus is that TeamCity has ootb Jabber integration - so we can receive build alerts via the IM client.

I agree with Quin on the IRC idea. I'd recommend freenode.net as the
IRC server. If anyone is at work and can't access IRC directly try
mibbit.

So now we have this IRC channel and this group for that matter, what
can we do to promote it? Keeping a mailing list active is hard,
keeping an IRC channel active is very hard. I think if everyone
blogged on the subject and we got some of the more high profile sites
like Ajaxian to give it a shout we might stand a chance. Any other
ideas?
