Dear Irascible Professor Readers, Writers, and Colleagues,
Guest commentator J.J.S. Boyce addresses the importance of math skills
(numeracy) in the context of a Florida school board member who failed
the math portion of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test for
tenth-grade students. The Irascible Professor adds some comments of
his own on the importance of math skills for adults.
