Well, I've put this off as long as I comfortably can- something only
necessitated by the demands of corporate protocol. If you managed to
get me on the phone at any point in the last three weeks this won't be
news to you... which also means that I'm asking for lenience from
those who've been TRYING to get me. Things are settling down now.

The biggest change: my last day as the Chief Dude at Tower Records'
Magazine Division was October 1. There are lots of reasons for this,
most of which are boring to anyone who doesn't know me, but I'm
convinced that it was the right thing to do. I accomplished all the
goals I set for the job years ago. The only part of it I still really
enjoyed was working with the zines.

It's a good thing, too, since I'm staying on as the Mag Division's
resident zine buyer. My time in the office is going to be pretty
limited- I may only come in for extended periods of time on weekends-
so I'll be using the email a lot. There's still some shifting going
on, as non-zine entities (big vendors, rack manufacturers, and so on)
slowly start talking to my replacement. (That means the email box and
voicemail are full, and that virtually all the messages therein aren't
really for me.) Once everything is sorted out, I expect to go on a
big buying jag, probably starting sometime next week.

I was feeling kind of maudlin when I started this, but in the writing
realized that, if all goes well, zine folks will only see improvement
to working with Tower- after all, it's the first time Tower will have
someone on staff whose whole job revolves solely around zines!

Diana Montes, formerly my able assistant and now my able co-worker, is
handling all the zine accounting and stuff, and she's accessible at
the usual numbers. Also, if you want to know if your zine came in,
you can always ask her. (She's at 916-373-2544).

To anyone who's waiting on me, I ask for just a little more patience.
We're all settling into a new groove, figuring out how my new
commitments will mesh with tower. I'm just about there.

I remain...

No, shit. Thanks a lot, Clint. Just by carrying my zine, you've
contributed -
whether you like it or not - to my fame/world-domination. I'm sure that
Swine's happy, albeit secretly, to see you leave so that he can hog the
world-domination department.

Hugs and non-gay kisses,
Cullen

Swine,

You spelled my name incorrectly, it's Cahtah!

I hope that helps.

If you have any new writing, Cullen, send it the ULA's way. We're
always looking for new material. . . .

Cullen,
Holy fuck, is that you? Funny, I was just reading Secret Life of
Snakes on the bus today, wondering how you were. Like he said, welcome
back.
