Please...
Yeehah spiffing, and welcome. If anyone wants to know what's happening
on the Scottish music scene, check out

I'd like to do a wee crossover-type thingy with someone somewhere else.
Anyone in an interesting/boring local scene they'd like to tell me
about? I reckon my Scottish readers will be interested to discover how
similar/different our problems are to other places in this big 3D circle
we live on.
If you write a bit about the music scene in your area - what the venues
are like, the best and worst bands, things that are happening, goss,
problems ect, I'll do the same about Glasgow/Scotland for you.
ALso, number 2...
I gather a lot of folk put out "semiprozines", for want of a better
label. The UK zinescene's pretty fukkin' bad, but I'm trying to do the
same thing in Scotland. Any hints and tips how to make it pay for
itself? Most people in Scotland are a bit wary of zines - fuxake, most
people have never seen one - so the usual
going-to-music-shops-and-begging-for-£50 doesn't really work. They just
think it's a ripoff. So I'm looking for a few outlandish concepts that
have worked simply because they were new. Or because they couldn't fail!
One o' the things I'm trying is to get the cybercafes to sponsor the
paper version of the mag, so that unwired readers can check out
Noisewave online for free. That might work. I'm trying to get Tartan
Special beer to sponsor me as well, being as how I'm seeling Scotland to
the world.
But on the whole, help!
Thanks for yer time and consideration. Sorry about bis!

if anyone wants a Calgary punk scene report i could send them one. It's
got all kinds of good info from crash pads and good eats to bands,
promoters and venues. if you do a zine or webpage you could print or post
it. that'd be cool. if you want photo's just ask and i'll (snail) mail
you some after the postal stike is over.

What about forgetting the shops and sell 'em at shows and clubs? If it's a
music zine, why not get the local pubs and clubs to stick their business
card-size ads on your back cover for 5 or 10 Pounds an issue? Sell ad
space to the local bands, too. Are you in Glasgow? What about getting the
School of Art to buy a page ad - or the art stores? Art and music, right?
Don't forget clothes - are there any thrift shops or retro clothes stores
in your area? Sell them some space, too.
Even better if you can scan all these ads into your website. Even if you
can't, try setting up a text-based classifieds section in your website and
sell cheap space to those bands and shops. Great selling point for your
zine, and doesn't cost you anything other than time...
Good luck with it!
