Post Holiday 2009 Poetry Blowout in L.A. on Tuesday
If you happen to be in L.A. this Tuesday, December 29, consider
yourself invited to the Cobalt Cafe in Canoga park where I host a
weekly open reading. This Tuesday it's an end of the year poetry blow
out party featuring a live version of the Great Poetry Exchange.
Bring a book of your poetry (or a book of poetry that you love) to be
randomly given to another poet in attendance in exchange for a book
from yet another attendee. Bring food for the eating, your revelry
for the co-mingling with fellow poets, and plan on reading a poem in
our open reading. Click here for the details:

NEW ONLINE PUBLICATIONS LISTINGS THIS WEEK:
~ VALVE, THE - A LITERARY ORGAN
The Valve is a literary weblog dedicated to the proposition that the
function of the little magazine can follow this form. We mean to
foster debate and circulation of ideas in literary studies and
contiguous academic areas. Since a narrow academic focus would be
unlikely to serve this primary project, our focus is not narrowly
academic, nor purely literary. Authors are free to wander so long as
they do not make positive nuisances of themselves with respect to our
general aims.
NEW INDIVIDUAL POETS PAGES LISTINGS THIS WEEK
~ GEORGE MOORE WEBSITE
Website of poet George Moore, senior instructor at University of
Colorado in Boulder.
~ DANIEL Y. HARRIS

University of Chicago, where he specialized in Jewish theology and
comparative religion and wrote his dissertation on The Zohar. He is

POETRY SUPER HIGHWAY BOOKSTORE
Featured this week in the Poets of the Week Books section of the PSH
Bookstore:
STARVING SWALLOWS by RADOMIR VOJTECH LUZA
Starving Swallows carries the spirit of a man locked in a mental
hospital, not knowing when or if he will ever leave. It is blue, red
and orange. It is pain and victory, humor and disdain. No tragedy. It
was written usually at night on top of plastic garbage cans with only
the dim corridor light seeing it through. It touches on twenty years
of psychotropic medication and the highs and lows of its intake. But
fool yourself not, Starving Swallows is a book dedicated to the one
emotion that matters more than life itself: love. It eats breakfast
with it, swallows lunch and harmonizes dinner. Starving Swallows is
dedicated to love, old or new, borrowed or blue, and the mysterious
miracle it is.
Paperback, 76 Pages, Published by PublishAmerica, (June, 2008)
