Hi all-

I have 5 sheets of marine mahogany about 5'W x14'L and about 1/4 to 3/8
inch thick. I acquired this wood from my parents old home which is now
being sold.

Is this wood worth anything? I do some basic wood working projects, however,
I feel this wood deserves better. My Uncle originally intended to build a
row boat out of it several years ago but past away before he had a chance.

I suppose I may sell it so I'm looking for advice on what to sell it for.

It's not worth anything, ship it to me and I'll find something to do
with it :)

I knew I'd get a post like yours.... I was just waiting.

I did some checking around with some local vendors and it's worth about $35
a board. I noticed some are a little stained so perhaps they would good
wood for projects.

Didn't you notice th little smiley face at the end? You may even be
able to get rid of the stain. Where you located? I'ld be interested in
some of it if you're near (within 200 miles) of Atlanta, GA

I'm in vancouver washington so we talking a few 1000 miles - sorry.
I remeasured the boards and they are 4 feet wide and 14 feet long. There
are also a 5 5x10 boards but I believe these are just plywood.

Too expensive to ship it 'cross country. Oh well. I'm sure you'll find
a good use for it.

You really should look into the value of these sheets before parting with
them! A number of factors determine the value of marine plywood, including
the type of glue used, the thickness of the outer plies and the type of wood
used in the inner plies. To give you an idea of what they might be worth, I
just purchases a half sheet (4'X4') of teak veneered marine plywood (with
Okume inner plies) for $85 from Wilsons in Bellingham, WA and thought I was
getting a bargain since I have seen marine plyood for much more than that.
