Hi there,

I was just wondering how practitioners of neo-paganism such as Asatru,
Wicca, Druidity, ect; tend
to view consensual incest between adults?. For example, a full blooded
brother/sister or mother/son
who are both adults. I know that consensual incest between adults is
specifically prohibited in the
sacred texts of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, and
Buddhism.

I believe I am correct in stating that most practitioners of neo-
paganism such as Asatru, Wicca, Druidity,
ect; tend to be quite open minded and accepting where human sexuality
is concerned, and for the most
part, do not appear to have any problems with homosexuality,
bisexuality, polyamory, ect; but I cannot
seem to find anything concerning consensual incest between adults.

I am by no means an Asa-pope but most Asatru practitioners I've met would
have a problem with all of the above. I will also stipulate that is a
limited sampling, perhaps from a more conservative area.

As far as I know, consensual incest between adults is
considered taboo by most of not all neopagans though
that might not be spelled out in scripture.

One reason for such a taboo is that children born
from such a union are more likely to have defects.

But I also look on it as an extension of the fact
that I would be unwilling to start a sexual
relationship with a close friend since if the
sexual relationship ends that could end the
friendship.

I would certainly never consider sex with any
of my siblings, and that isn't because of my
early Catholic upbringing but is something
innate to me and I suspect to others.
