As far as I can figure out, one can send email with free agent, but
cannot recieve. Is this true? I think I read here the other day that
Agent-yet-to-come will fully support email. But of what use is the
sending function now without the recieve? Its like all one way streets
out of town! The help files don't help on this. Any comments?

Agent will be what I have been waiting for. A single program that supports both. If they compare to the functionality of Eudora then it is goodbye eudora. Two for the price of one too. Hi John,

Probably, the folks at Forte put the send e-mail capability in the
package is because very frequently you'll find people that post
questions to a newsgroup would prefer to receive their answers via
e-mail rather than a follow-up post. This is to make certain that they
see the comebacks, if any, to their questions without having to be
a slave to reading the news regularly. I don't think the Forte people
originally envisioned Free Agent being used as a regular e-mail
client. They have, however, as you state in your post, apparently
changed their minds and plan to put full two-way e-mail capability
in the commercial version of the program (soon to be released).

Regards,
Bob

After always hearing and reading "soon" I was wondering if anybody
knows what "soon" means;-)
Is Agent likely to be out within the next weeks, months or whatever?

All the best

They are the VERY weak parts of agent. For instance you can't use a single keystorke to read with. I mean scroll the current and when ending then into the next. You can't delete all read articles, you can't sort either the article list or the group list. Without these things the 40 dollar charge would not be even close to worth it IMHO. OTOH if they put these things in and they work as advertised I would buy it in a second. I do hope they put out a way to try it first though. How do I know if I will like what they do if I can not try it first.
