AVG stopped providing updates for its 7.5 version on 30th April 2009.

According to AVG, the latest version of their free anti-virus scanner won't
work with Win 98 or ME.

Any suggestions for an alternative free antivirus scanner that works with
98?

Thanks for the suggestions.

It seems that Avast (at http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html ) is a
possibility for Win 98. Will probably give it a go.

However Avira (at http://www.free-av.com/ ) says it no longer supports Win
98. (Quote from their site: Starting July 2006, Microsoft discontinued the
support for Windows 98/ME. As announced some time ago on Product lifecycle
information page on www.avira.com, we do not offer new versions and updates
for Windows 98/ME virus protection any longer.)

Thanks again...

Howard,

Go for Avast, it worked a like a dream for me on an old computer running
Windows 98SE - far better than AVG in my opinion.

The Avast Home Edition download file is only about 300 KB in size, yet the
system requirements states that the app needs 100 MB of disk space. What's
up with that???
