Hello folks

I have a folder on my PC with 20+ files which, for some reasoon, I
cannot delete using either Windows explorer or DOS prompt. I have full
admin rights, file atributes are correct... but no luck.

tried safe mode, tried a new admin user... nothing.

I tried a programm called "total commander" but didn't work. Am now
using another called "hijackthis", but it deletes only ONE file at a
time... and it requires a reboot each time :(

Anyone has any alternatives?

Windows XP Pro, fully updated

I had a similar problem with a file associated with an old version of
Flash. I was able to rename it, but I could not delete the renamed
file. A security application that can erase files by overwriting them
would not work on the file. Even booting to Safe Mode, deletion was
blocked.

In Safe Mode, however, I was able to move the file out of its folder
(cut and paste). After rebooting normal, I was then able to delete it
from its new location. (Before deleting it, I tested Flash to make sure
it still worked.)

While searching google for more, I found this tip, using Nero 6:

1. Launch Nero Burning Rom
2. Select DVD-ROM (ISO)
3. Click New
4. Find file in the File Browser
5. Right click on file
6. Select delete

It worked... don't ask me why, but it did..

Yst, there is a really handy free utility called unlock assistant that
will take care of this problem.
You can get it here
