I have a really old (c. 2000) PC that still seems to work well albeit with the limitations of a PC made at in c. 2000. I also have a Windows ME CD that I used to install WinME on the PC with a completely clean install that included completely reformatting the HD. I have encountered the following problems.... more »

My WinME machine is still running, without internet. I've heard of Virtual PC for years, but haven't tried it. Are there any special instructions for running WinME under Virtual PC? 1 Gig Memory limit, right? There's still a European made antivirus program being updated that runs on WinME, right? Avast? Or some other?... more »

Is it possible to install Office home and Student 2007 on to an old working computer that runs on Windows ME. It has no connection to the internet as it is currently being used by a very elderly gentleman (80+) who only copies recipes for his wife! For some unknown reason Word has disappeared from the screen!... more »

WindowsME boots only in safe mode

My WindowsMe boots only in safe mode. As I found out it is for Display adapter driver. i tried myself to find driver and installed S3VMX.DRV. Still only possible 16 colors and 640x480 resolution. Any help possible?

I have Ubuntu, Win2K and WIndowsME on a PC. All were working fine. After upgrading memory to 2.128 gig of memory Windows ME won't boot up, starts to boot, get the white splash screen then it causes the PC to reboot. Too much memory for ME?
