I am having a daisy theme for my wedding. The invitations and decorations
are going to have daisies on them. My colors are going to be hunter green
(primary) and ivory (secondary). What other flowers would go well with
daisies in a bouquet? Any suggestions?

Deep purple Siberian Irises (or any other purple flower), pink roses,
blue larkspur or most other blue flowers.

Doesn't it matter that my colors are green and ivory? I thought more along
the lines of more white or ivory flowers and some greenery like ivy?

Well, you don't have to stick with just green and ivory for your flowers
just because those are your colors. If the BM dresses are hunter green,
then something brighter would look good against them. I would go with a
few light yellow flowers (since the centers of the daisies are yellow).
I think yellow roses would look lovely, or even some sort of yellow
filler. You could also just go with another color gerber daisy. That
would also look nice. It kind of depends on what type of flowers you
like. You could also go with assorted summer flowers that look good
with daisies in all colors. I think yellow looks very good with green
and white. I went to a wedding where the color was pale green, and the
flowers were peaches, yellows, and ivories. It was absolutely
elegant!! Of course, there is a wide variety of greenery you could use
as well. Good Luck.

Sweetheart, you asked for opinions--no one says you have to agree or
to do it! The Flower Police aren't going to be at the back of the church,
checking up on what your flowers look like! (I'd add another color with the
green and ivory/white, but it's your wedding!)

Whatever you like can be used. You might think about going to a
craft store and just using silk flowers (or real ones if you want) to
get an idea of what the finished product might look like. My colors
were hunter green and ivory too, but we found that a little more color
looked very nice as well.
For example, you could consider including yellow flowers along
with white/ivory flowers and ivy. They'd look nice, and they'd
contrast well with the yellow centers of the daisies.

Tulips would be my flower of choice to compliment daisies, but only because
I LOVE both flowers! (Daisies...an excellent choice!) A lot depends on the
time of year for your wedding, too (you "might" be able to get tulips for an
early June wedding -- especially if you are able to plan ahead and have a
florist delay the flowering for a month; I got married in late June and
couldn't swing the tulip thing -- darn!).

If you are looking for a filler flower, yellow or purple statice, white or
pink baby's breath, orchids (the little tiny ones that have a hint of
yellow -- I used them in my bouquet and they were very pretty; they come
with several on a stem and the flowers themselves are only a couple inches
wide), white or yellow or pink sweetheart roses or long stems, white or
pink peonies (I think you can get peonies in June, but I'm not sure), etc.

If you are doing the bouquets yourself, start looking around at florists or
craft stores (they have books on flower arranging) for ideas. If you are
having a florist do your flowers, find a good one that can give you educated
suggestions on what's available in your area for a late spring wedding. Good
luck! (and remember the tulips!!)

Oh, and I almost forgot, any white, pink, purple, or yellow wild flower
would compliment daisies nicely. I think daisies can go either formal or
casual, kind of like a sheath mini -- put a short beaded/sequined bolero
with it and you've got formal, put a blazer with it and you've got casual.

Lisa - I think you're thinking of alstromeria - they look a little like
small orchids, and come as you described with several blooms on a stem
and in a variety of colors. They're pretty flowers, have a nice subtle
scent, and are not expensive at all.

To the original poster: I know you specified that your colors are green
and ivory, but really those are two colors that would set off any
combination of flowers (or that any combination of flowers would
compliment). The idea of having flowers is not to match exactly your
clothing and color scheme, but to compliment it. In that respect, I
think a soft blue as Gloria suggested would provide a nice contrast,
yellows would work well, so would soft pastels and peachy colors.
Personally I think that since you're using daisies as your main flower,
you should go for some kind of nice spring/wildflower mix with bright
colors. But that's just me - and I love flowers in any color.

A year or so ago, Martha Stewart did a wedding all in daisys. It was
really pretty. If you can handle looking at all her stuff without
starting to feel overwhelmed you might want to go to the library and
check for back issues of her weddings magazine for some ideas.

Thankyou that sounds like an excellent idea. I am sure I will find something
there.

I had daisies and white roses too. I didn't know at
first how they would look together...they're just two of my
favorite flowers. Roses being more "dignified" and daisies
more "casual" for my lack of any other way of explaining
them. But the consultant at the florist assured me they'd
be fine together and she'd done a lot like that so...I went
for it. My bouquet was sooo beautiful, I almost cried when
I first saw it when we picked up the flowers!

I saw a picture of a fall wedding bouquet with daisies, and it used mums and
mini carnations for color, primarily in peach and pinky-peach. I thought it
was so beautiful for a fall wedding. So maybe some mums or mini carnations,
depending on what's available.

I used multi-coloured gerbera daisies & dahlias. I loved the "brightness"
of it (you can see a photo at http://www.vic.bc.ca/wedding and follow the
photo link).

I think that daisies would look beautiful by themselves too (I was
thinking of doing that, but I loved the dahlias too).
