It is not at all unreasonable. Your offer to contribute to the cost
of transportation is very generous. Given the circumstance, it's worth
it to go for Maui.
But what if few or no members of your family agree to go along with
it. True, your family may be disappointed - for a short while - but
if you are paying and this is what you want, then go for it. If you
don't, your time of regret will be longer that that family and potential
wedding guests are pissed off. It sounds like a wonderful idea that
will give you a lifetime memory.
You are talking about what the wedding industry calls a "destination
wedding." That's where the wedding and honeymoon are at the same locale.
Disneyworld now has a staff of people who coordinate such events at
their Florida site. Some involve just the couple and clergy, others
range up to a full guest list. There are travel agents that specialize
in arranging these weddings and all their details, including clergy.
Consider having the ceremony taped for sharing with folks at home later.
Antoehr option is to have the wedding in Maui, then follow up with a
casual reception, perhaps with a Hawiian motife, at a place convenient
to your families.
