Subject: Re: Colors - March

Q: We finally set our date last week, and the first thing out of
his mom's mouth was *so what are your colors?* GEEEEEZZZ!!!

Danette Wilson (dmwi...@u.washington.edu)
The wedding will be end of March (3/22/97), and late at night
(probably after 7 pm). I was thinking about black (fiance and
my mom say NO!), cranberry, hunter green, or navy...
-----------------------
From: lis...@imap2.asu.edu (Lisa)
My wedding is going to be March 9. I have chosen burgundy which
will go nicely with the flowers I have chosen. Central to all
the arrangement will be the stargazer lilly which has a deep
fuschia/burgundy color.
-----------------------
From: anti...@aol.com (Antikreis)
I was married 12 March 1994 in the afternoon. Being in the
south we took advantage of early spring colors, meaning lilies,
meaning not pastel. My one bridesmaid wore a dark purple very
close to navy blue but not. I hate saying my colors were purple
and white since I think of purple and usually cringe:) We
decorated with different purple lilies and white accent flowers
and brought in a little yellow, jonquils were just coming out
then.
-----------------------
From: fr...@news.gate.net (Frank Dickinson)
We decided that the bridesmaids will wear a floral print dress
and all the bouquets and centerpieces will be multi colored. The
tablecloths will be white and the napkins hunter green. We're
still working on what the guys will wear.
-----------------------
From: ampr...@aol.com (AMProcess) (Sue)
My wedding is March 10, 1996 in Michigan and my color is plum.
I planned on having black, but when we were at the store and my
bridesmaids were trying on dresses to see which ones looked the
best, I found a really cool looking one in plum (velvet and
satin long straight dresses with jackets). So that is my color.
-----------------------
From: Debbie Adair <adair>
We are getting married March 2, 1996. I am wearing a midnight
blue velvet gown and would like a predominantly white bouquet.
I may add another color for accent.
-----------------------
From: boz...@aol.com (Bozwin)
I am getting married next March, and my bridesmaids are wearing
midnight navy velvet.

Subject: Re: Colors - April

Q: I am getting married in April two years from now, but my
bridesmaids are already wanting to pick out the dress. They
are very excited about the dress color. Since it's a spring
wedding, what colours would be 'acceptable'?

From: ang...@toybox.ottawa.on.ca (The Cow Goddess)
when picking our wedding colours, do any of us do it because a
colour is IN??? ugh! what a thought! that you'd let fashion
dictate your tastes for something so special...i chose gold as
a wedding colour because it looks great with my red hair! his
red hair too! *grin* but the other colour is amethyst because
my only attendant, my sister, loves purple!
----------------------
From: lgree...@avuhsd.k12.ca.us
Our colors are sage green and lavender. We are having an outdoor
wedding and reception the day before Easter. Still haven't
chosen bridesmaid's dresses though.
-----------------------
From: din...@pitt.edu (Dina Anderson)
My sister was married in April (an evening formal wedding).
The wedding colors my sister chose (in terms of flowers and such)
were navy and fuschia, primarily. The bridesmaids wore full-length
navy dresses. We carried deep pink and purple colored flowers,
even orange. There were orchids, roses, and tulips, and with her
in white, us in navy, and the flowers the colors they were,
the pictures were terrific. Those colors gave a light, crisp feel.
I think navy can work well any time of day or year. It's one
of those classic colors.

Subject: Re: Colors - May

Q: I need some suggestions on the colors of my bridesmaids
dresses for a semi-formal May wedding.

From: carly...@aol.com (CARLYEMARI)
I am getting married 5/23/98 and my Bridesmaids will be wearing
black dresses that they can wear again. I thought about LOTS
of different colors but none of them appealed to me until my
mother suggested black. I love the idea, and I know it will
look elegant. I know my bms will thank me for it too.

From: lyd...@aol.com (LyddieT)
My brother and his fiancee (whom I am helping with the planning)
decided on pale blue, lavender, and green and pink here and there.
Very Springy.
--------------------
From: e...@slip.net
Deep, crimson red with gold accents and mostly red roses with some
gardenias.
---------------------
From: lkfi...@aol.com (LKFitter)
I have chose hunter green for our May wedding. My favorite color, but
mother isn't very happy!
---------------------
From: Shannon Moyes <sjm...@lamar.ColoState.EDU>
We are using true white, green, charcol grey, and black. The accent
color on the green bridesmades dresses will be gold/cream/peach.
Flowers will be light pastels of pink, peach, yellow (if we go with
gold), possably blue and purple, and definitely some fire and ice
roses. Of note, we are using a victorian theme so most of the
the accent colors will be in lace.
---------------------
From: Dan Isaac <i...@westnet.com>
I am thinking of perriwinkle/ lavender and yellow with a little
ivory thrown in.
---------------------
From: g912...@mcmail.cis.McMaster.CA (Doris Sabljic)
I would ideally like a floral print in pastel colours but I have
discovered that florals can be hard to find. If not floral I am
toying with the idea of a pastel solid--perhaps a mint green.
However, my sister (and bridesmaid) was quick to comment that no
flowers would "go" with this colour dress. I was also thinking
of an aqua or blue (something in the blue/green colours in
pastel).
-----------------------
From: onys...@mail2.sas.upenn.edu (Lada T Onyshkevych)
My wedding is May 11, 1996, and I've chosen Hunter Green for my
BMs. It's a popular color now, so you can use department stores
etc instead of just bridal shops. And there's not much problem
matching flowers to this color- you can use just about anything.
I think this color is flattering to many people; I polled my
three BMs first about what colors they wear in normal life, and
this is one of the colors that they all had in common (plus it's
one of my favorites).
-----------------------
From: mura...@earth.usc.edu (Gretchen Murawski)
Our day is May 19, late afternoon, and I have chosen the color
WINE/BURGUNDY/or some other deep red color for the BM's. Since
my wedding dress is ivory and has bunches of pearls in the shape
of grape clusters, and grape leaves embroidered on the skirt and
train, and the weding is outside under a grape arbour, I just
thought that WINE would be a good color for me!
-----------------------
From: melfo...@aol.com (MelFordyce)
I chose to have my bridesmaids wear periwinkle blue -- that sort
of light blue with a little purple. It was beautiful in
pictures and perfect with the flowers. I couldn't have asked
for a better color. I know I am definitely biased, but other
people commented on it too.
-----------------------
From: jdi...@uoguelph.ca (Juanita L Diegel)
I have also choosen hunter green for my bridemaids. They all
look great in it. One is blonde (at times :) ), one is
brunette, and the other is somewhere inbetween. They all look
great!!
-----------------------
From: Lia Zelenka <lzel...@frontier.canrem.com>
My date is May 11th - my bridesmaids chose hunter-green floor
length gowns, and they will have peach and cream flowers. My
dress is ivory coloured. I think the colour scheme will be dark
green, ivory and some burgundy or possibly gold accents.
-----------------------
From: Stephan...@cc.chiron.com (Stephanie Sims)
John and I will be married on the 25th of May, 1996 and I have
no idea what colors to choose. I am leaning to the pink to
burgundy range but also pastels like lavender and cornflower
blue entice me, oh well there is always navy and midnight blue.
-----------------------
From: Beth Elliott <76331...@CompuServe.COM>
I guess navy/midnight blue must be all the rage - I didn't
realize how popular it was - I am getting married next May (navy
is the colour theme) and my girlfriend is getting married
shortly after me (guess what colour? .... Navy!). I didn't see
much Navy in the bridal books over the past year, so I though I
was safe (not that I don't mind sharing such an excellent colour
choice!).
-----------------------
From: Tammy.S...@SGC.X400.GC.CA
Mitch and I are slated for May 11, 1996. A colour for the
bridesmaids dresses wasn't a big problem for me, because first
and foremost, I wanted my friends to be able to wear the dresses
again. We have chosen "light navy" - a lighter shade of navy,
with a hint of gray in it.
-----------------------
From: Dawn <intern...@hcc.cc.fl.us>
I am getting married May 11th and using hunter green.
-----------------------
From: meq...@aol.com (MEQ519)
We're having our wedding on May 19th -- the flowers are white
orchids, hybrid dendrobium orchids, pink and purplish alstros
and some filler greens, etc. For the colors of our wedding
party -- we went with a rich purple color -- not so purple it
looks navy but not a light purple either.
-----------------------
From: aj...@lafn.org (Kelly Tong)
Our May wedding is on the 4th and I just finished shopping for
styles for the bridesmaids dresses. I am partial to pastels and
"spring" colors. We chose dusty rose because pink is just too
pale on Asian skin. I plan to use silver as an accent as well
as lavendar and pale yellow in the bouquets.
-----------------------
From: Michaele Kashgarian <kashg...@llnl.gov>
My wedding date is May 11, and I have to say that I don't really
have "colors" since the reception will be outdoors. As far as
flowers, we will be using lots of pink (apple blossoms, dogwood,
tulips, roses) but we are going to use blue, yellow and white
flowers as well. the bridesmaid's dresses will be something off
the rack, probably from Laura Ashley, so I expect to use
something pastel or a flowery print. I love spring flowers of
all kinds so I didn't want to restrict my color scheme to just
one or two colors!
-----------------------
From: ha...@oasys.dt.navy.mil (Jocelyn Hall)
May 18th is my PROPOSED wedding date! The colors I first chose
were forest green & gold. But My coordinator, who is also my
best friend, thought that the green was too dark for Spring. So
the combination I now have is Cream & Gold! Beautiful! If you're
looking for a "dreamy" effect, look for soft crepe material
accented with SOFT metallic gold.
-----------------------
From: Erica David <eda...@uoknor.edu>
My wedding is on May 19, 1996 and will be semi-formal. My fiance
and his best men are wearing black tuxes. My dress is an
off-the-shoulder, ivory brocade which is floor length (no train,
but I am wearing a veil). The dresses which I want for my
candlelighters are a burgundy velvet with ecru trim.

Subject: Re: Colors - June

Q: It seems that many of the weddings are taking place in June.
It also seems that just about everyone has chosen a color for
their reception and ceremony _ except us, since we had never
thought about it. What are your colors?

From: bewa...@is.dal.ca (Barbara Elizabeth Warner)
Our colours are white, black and red:
bride's dress, shoes, hat: white
bride's flowers: red
groom's tux: black with white shirt
groom's vest: black and red, or red.
maid of honour's outfit: red dress, with black tuxedo jacket
best man's tux: black with white shirt, black vest.
We're hoping for hints of grey: in the vests perhaps, in the
invitations, ribbons on chairs, etc.
------------------
From: mrse...@aol.com (MrsEadie1)
I am having a June wedding and I have chosen Ice Blue as my color.
Next weekend I am meeting with the party, my MOH likes Ice Blue
but if the rest of the party can't decide then the color will be
peach.
-------------------
From: dul...@voicenet.com ("Denise Marzec")
Finally got the bridesmaids dresses so the colors are decided.
The dresses are "cobalt" which is a purplish blue color. For
decorations we'll use purple, blue, and pearlized (opal) white.
Will try to stick close to these colors for the flowers as well,
but I have no idea what types of flowers I want yet.
--------------------
From: "Shawna K. Simpson" <csh...@okstate.edu>
Our wedding colors were hunter green and white. The BM dresses
were huntergreen and white, and most of the decorations were green.
My mom says they were hunter green, burgandy and white, which
I suppose is correct because all the flowers were red roses.
----------------------
From: dbo...@mail2.sas.upenn.edu (David Bowie)
Well, i'm a June *groom*, not a June bride, but i figure i can
answer anyway. Jeanne's favorite color is my second favorite
color, and my favorite color is Jeanne's second favorite color,
so the choice was easy. Hunter green (Jeanne's favorite) and
purple (my favorite). (And it *does* look better than it
sounds!)
-----------------------
From: Katherine Lange <kat...@umich.edu>
Our wedding will be next June 22nd, and my colors were
determined by the bridesmaids' dresses - they're floral prints
with peaches, lilac, some mint greens, etc, and our wedding is
in the morning, so we have lots of springy pastel colors. There
wasn't much to coordinate 'cause we're ordering white invites
and thank-you's, the guys are wearing grey morning suits, the
chapel's full of all colors of stained glass, and we're
borrowing a friend's pew bows from her wedding, and they're
pink, so we'll add some purples and light greens and whites with
ribbons to them to hang off of the pews. Our reception site is
at a hotel ballroom, and they've got very rich colors in the
carpeting, table linens, and silk floral arrangements - lots of
burgandy, forest green, and creams, but I'm not too concerned
about the two color schemes clashing. I'm most concerned about
the ceremony colors when all attention will pretty much be in
one area, whereas at the reception, there will be many areas of
focus. I'm so excited, I'm getting goose bumps as I write this!
-----------------------
From: dan...@aol.com (DanieK)
I wanted light and springy because my wedding is in the morning.
The bridesmaids dresses are probably going to be peach and I'll
probably go with seafoam green as the other colors (for accents
and random things like that) just because I like green and my
favorite sweater is white, peach and seafoam green so I figure
they go together well.
-----------------------
From: Julie_B...@hp6400.desk.hp.com (Julie Bostater)
I chose my colors by the bridemaid dress that I liked. I didn't
want to fall in love with some color and then be stuck searching
for just the right dress, only to find it doesn't come in the
right color. The decision: Midnight Blue.
-----------------------
From: byr...@serv.net (Renee Ann Byrd)
Ivory (my dress) and burgundy (a color that somehow prominmently
wormed its way into our interior decorating *ha ha* scheme).
-----------------------
From: pa...@uniserve.com (Patricia Goertzen)
My sister got married last June and a great way to use spring
colors is in a wonderful floral print (works if you're a floral
person) and picking one or two of the dominant colors in the
floral as your accent colors.
-----------------------
From: jcr...@psu.edu (Jennifer Rose)
I fell in love with those stargazer lillys, and I will also be
using Ivy from my mother's wedding (25 years ago).
Consequently, I took a lilly to the fabric store to choose the
material for the bridesmaids dresses. They are a shimmery dusty
rose with a light pink lining so they look bright for June.
-----------------------
From: Janet Sodano <soda...@mc.duke.edu>
I got married last June and used dark purple dresses. All but
one of my bridesmaid were dark complicated with dark hair and I
thought they looked better in dark colors (that's why I choose
my color). But I found the dress I wanted, then I chose my
colors by what looked best on my bridesmaids. For the flowers I
basically asked the florist what she thought looked best with
the dress. I believe in their bouquests there were salmon
lillies and other flowers which I can't remember right now. In
my bouquet I used all white flowers.
-----------------------
From: Ron & Debbie <rsen...@postoffice.worldnet.att.net>
I'm glad to see other people chose "dark" colors for summer
weddings. My FMIL is rather horrified at my choice of midnight
blue and wants to know why I'm not having "nice pastels"!
_______________________
From: lank...@tigger.jvnc.net
For my sister's wedding we all wore navy gowns, they were
beautiful! My sister used all bright spring flowers. Everyone
said that they were very nice .....As it turned out, it rained
on the day of the wedding (6/30) and so most of the guests wore
navy also.
-----------------------
From: GKV...@prodigy.com (Gina Vogliardo)
My June wedding color is going to be plum (plum dresses and black
tuxs & white table coverings probably). Plum is my favorite color;
not too violet, or purple -- But it sucks in a way because I'm
having a hard time finding a floral arrangment that I like.
-----------------------
From: Kathy Gantz <kga...@mail.inhs.uiuc.edu>
I'm having plum bridesmaid's dresses. My dress is ivory and we'll
have black tuxes. A good complimentary color to plum is dusty rose.
I am going to use dusty rose colored roses and filler for my bouquet.
I've also decided to incorporate gold as an accent color (the
reception site uses gold fluffy stuff on their buffet table
as decoration).
-----------------------
From: kri...@dartmouth.edu (Kristy Patterson)
I'm having plum bridesmaid's dresses. They are a plain
spaghetti-strap plum brocade sundress (rewearable, at least
my friends think they'll wear them again), with a cropped
short-sleeve jacket over them, with ivory trim. The groomsmen
are wearing a black tux with a black/plum paisley waistcoat
and tie. Our accents seem to be hunter green and ivory
(my dress color), with some deep red roses here and there.
-----------------------
From: shak...@cco.caltech.edu (Adele Shakal)
Navy was actually our second-choice color for *our* bridesmaids
for next June! I ended up finding burgundy-plum dresses instead.
I'm accenting the burgundy with white and pale yellow...
-----------------------
From: Leala A. Skwara <ls68...@oak.cats.ohiou.edu>
My wedding is June 29, 1996. I'm going "untraditional"
and using black and white, with bright green accents.

Subject: Re: Colors - July

Q: I was wondering what the appropriate colors were for a July
wedding? We are open to all suggestions!

From: rand...@news.oswego.edu (Rachel Carolyn Anderson )
My original colors were going to be Hunter Green and yet to be
determined accent colors. Now , I took my bridesmaids out to look
at the dress I had picked out for them but the store only carried
the dress in plum. Well, as it turns out I really like the dress
in that color and can't picture it in green (I didn't like the
green-colored swatches they showed me). So now I have to think
of some accent colors for plum.
---------------------
From: Aaron & Rebecca <aco...@prodigy.net>
At a cousins wedding, she had plum/wine colored dresses with a
icy yellow accent in the flowers, ribbons, and pew bows, and
it looked great.
---------------------
From: luvsm...@aol.com (LuvsMrMoos)
I'm getting married in July 1998 in a garden wedding and am using
jewel tones...according to dress designers a no-no for a summer
wedding. Well, it's my wedding and that's what I like.
---------------------
From: Corey Hudak <chu...@thunder.temple.edu>
I wore an ivory and rum pink gown for my wedding. My bridesmaids
wore taupe Bianchi gowns. This particular shade had a touch of
brown. The ushers wore black tuxes with black textured vests and
bow ties. They had ivory hankerchiefs in their pockets. The
pictures are gorgeous. BTW, the consultant at the bridal store
did suggest chocolate brown with the rum pink.
----------------------
From: be...@wannabe.East.Sun.COM (Beth Hall -SSE- Huntsville AL)
I recently got married on July 8. I went with in-season
flowers....deep purple, yellow, pink, and white. I don't even
know the names of the flowers, but they were gorgeous. The
invitations were floral purple and green. I knew the men would
wear black tails with white shirts, and I would be in white.
And since the wedding was at 8pm....the bridesmaids should wear
full-length. I picked out the most beautiful gowns for them.
Simple scooped neckline, fitted, shortsleeve, tailored skirt
with a high slit. The bodice was white lace and the skirt
black. It was simply beautiful. Everyone was in black and
white....with bright flowers. And the sunset was perfect.
There was a gentle breeze. We lit white bamboo torches around
the gazebo to add a little romance.
-----------------------
From: ang...@bvu.edu
We are getting married July 6, 1996 and our colors are red,
white, and black. I like the sophisication of those colors
together, and the red really brightens everything. We did have
a tough time finding the style of bridesmaid dress (a suit) in
red, and we ended up having them made. The bridesmaids will be
wearing red and carrying a white/red-tipped rose with greens. I
will be wearing white and carrying a bouquet of mainly red and
white roses. Red will be our accent color for decorations at
the reception.

From: Jennifer Stoller <stol...@ucs.orst.edu>
I'm getting married in late July of 1996. I decided not to have
any specific colors because I didn't want to limit myself like
that, I guess. I plan to have lots of wildflowers and only one
attendant (my sister who will wear a dress from this really cool
chiffon fabric with purple daisies).
-----------------------
From: gat...@aol.com (GatesGM)
Our wedding will be in July at night, but my bridesmaids are
wearing black dresses and we are having flowers in the
burgundy/dark red family. Our flowers are: dark red roses,
Stargazer lilies (white with burgundy spots/stripes), burgundy
snapdragons, freesia, stephanotis, "white wax", plumosa, and
lots of greenery.

From: sh...@johnson.cornell.edu (sheri hastings)
our colors are black/dusty rose, and he is going to wear jeans.
my dress is pinkish, he WON'T wear pink (can't blame him), but
would love a shirt with dusty rose/mostly black in it.
---------------------
From: cd...@FreeNet.Carleton.CA (Jennifer Gebhardt)
I decided long ago that I would make the bouquet, corsages, and
boutineires for my wedding on August 26. Our wedding has a
Celtic theme (My mother is a Lindsay, his is a McDonald). The
MOH and BM are wearing long evening gowns in dark wine with a
sash of Lindsay tartan (wine, dark green, and navy) and the
piper is wearing McDonald Tartan. My bouquet will have white
roses, wine roses, thistle, and heather.
-----------------------
From: rc8...@mcvax2.d48.lilly.com (COLEMAN EDRICE M)
The last wedding I attended in August, the colors were fushcia,
white and teal (sounds loud, but was really okay!). The bride
wore white of course, the bridesmaids wore fushcia and one mom
wore fuscia and one teal. I like navy, pink and cream. So (if I
get married again) I'd have my bridesmaids wear navy, and I'd
like for both moms to wear a soft pink.

My girlfriend used a burnt orange - not Halloween colored, and it

From: jo...@aol.com (JoyKu)
We are having an outdoor ceremony. Our colors are silver &
black (Raiders colors), and teal (I had to get *some* say in).

has a different shade of teal for every type of fabric!

Subject: Re: Colors - September

Q: Just wondering if there are any September brides out there
who'd mind letting me know what their colour schemes are...I
have been wracking my brain for what colours to go with, and
September just isn't a month where any particular colour jumps
to mind...

From: kdpe...@mail.utexas.edu
Colors for a Sept. wedding. Well, I recently was in a wedding
that was burgundy and iris. She used star lilies (they are white
with burgundy centers) for her burgundy. Our dresses were burgundy.
Another very pretty fall color is navy. There are no navy flowers,
but that is just another color to consider.
------------------
From: "Shanna" <sha...@ime.net>
My wedding is in September and my colors are Jade Green, Royal Blue,
and Eggplant. They look great together.
-------------------
From: jtg...@aol.com (JTGray2)
I am having dark colors. My wedding is September 13, and my maids
dresses are navy. The thing that makes it all look a little
"brighter", is the dresses have a white lacy overlay on the bodice,
and I am using a darkish mauve as my accent color. I am even having
all black tuxes. Oooo. No one has said anything about my choice of
colors, and so far have gotten rave reviews on them.
-------------------
From: k-s...@coewl.cen.uiuc.edu (Katherine D Sauer)
I am having my BM wear dresses with a "mahogany" velvet top and
mocha-brown silk skirt. I had some complaints from family members
and even the bridesmaids that brown was 1) too dark or 2) didn't
go with anything. My fiancee wanted to wear a grey cutaway tux,
but we compromised with a black jacket, a black vest, and dark
grey pants. My MOH was appalled that I would allow any grey to be
next to the brown dresses, but what can I do? It's what he wants
to wear. Now, she is insisting that cream colored stockings are
out of the question (even though they are floor length dresses)
because brown, black, grey, and cream are "too many" non-colors.
But, my dress is an ivory silk charmuse, so I consider my "official"
colors to be mahogany brown and ivory. I chose orange and yellow
flowers to go with the brown and ivory. Yes, orange and yellow
sounds way too 70's and ugly, but it actually looks fantastic.
I was shocked. :) Fall colors are my favorite, I've discovered.
----------------------
From: ambr...@cnsvax.uwec.edu (Noelle Christine Ambrose)
Our wedding is September 1996. I live where the Autumn is known
across the country for its beauty! That's why we chose the peak
color weekend for the wedding. I just picked out the most
beautiful bronze ribbon to be incorporated into all the flowers.
We will be looking for mocha-colored dresses for the
bridesmaids. The church will be decorated with turned oak and
maple leaves, and sprays of wheat will be accented by japanese
lanterns (orange). The colors for flowers will be yellow,
orange, and rust to go along with the season's colors. I am at
this moment in search of invitations with turned leaves on them.
Perhaps miniature pumpkins and mums for table centerpieces? We
are using cornucopias for the altar.
-----------------------
From: David D. Boscia <Dave....@daytonoh.attgis.com>
My wedding is September 23rd. I have always loved the fall and
the colors associated with it. My BM's dresses are cranberry
(actually closer to burgundy) and the flowers are going to be
fall colors (muted oranges, yellows, dark green, burgundy and
cream accents). I know it is hard to picture, but I took one of
the dresses with me to the florist and it looks incredible.
-----------------------
From: rmer...@lynx.dac.neu.edu (Renee Mercier)
I'm getting married in New Hampshire this Sept 30th (peak
foliage time). By default (I got an excellent deal at a Laura
Ashley outlet in Maine) the 3 bmaids dresses are a berry red.
I'm not really a "red" type of person, but it is starting to all
come together quite nicely. My sister is the MOH and she chose
a dress with the same red floral pattern. I am making red and
pink silk roses to put on my dress. So, I guess the main colors
are red, pink, and soft white (along with green of ivy, etc...)

For my wedding, 29 yrs. ago this Sept. my bridesmaids chose
dresses in pale seafoam, very close to today's turquoise. I
wanted them to carry dark, blue-purple asters with small yellow
or white "filler" flowers in their bouquets. I had seen the
colors together and they were stunning. The girls, all in their
early 20's, thought this would look "gaudy" and I ended up
bowing to their choice of yellow roses with ivy, which looked OK
but lacked the drama that the purple would have added. My own
bouquet was a round mass of gardenias, my favorite, which lasted
well through the 85 degree day and for days afterward altho most
florists tried to talk me out of them as being too fragile.
They ended up implanting a "scent memory" for both of us, and to
this day whenever we see or smell gardenias my husband gets an
"I remember" look on his face.

Paul & I are getting married on September 21, 1996. The
bridesmaids dresses are hunter green, and I am thinking about
having hunter green, burgandy & ivory for our colors (which will
coordinate well with the fall flowers in our area!)
-----------------------
From: MORRIS <MOR...@rcn.wpic.pitt.edu>
Bill and I will be married on 9-14-96. I am leaning toward a
combination of purple, green. amd gold accents, or cranberry &
green with gold accents. This may change once I get around to
looking for attendants' garb.
-----------------------
From: it...@aol.com (ITSLT)
My bridesmaids wore navy blue gowns (velvet and satin). The
flowers were all very pale peach, ivory, cream essence (whatever
that is) roses some Betsy Brown roses (a burnt orange inside the
petal and white on the outside of the petal), and hydrangias -
which are turning to an ivory/beige color that time of year, but
because it had been so warm, they had a little tint of reddish
brown in them - how convenient! The florist also made some
arrangements with twigs, leaves and reddish berries and
incorporated the roses and candles in them - these were isle
stansions.
-----------------------
From: mszo...@mintrop.Mines.EDU (Michelle Szobody)
My colors were Wedgewood blue and midnight blue. The bridesmaids
were in the lighter color, in satin, and my MOH was in the dark,
in taffeta. I think it looked great (I'm a sucker for
contrasting colors).
-----------------------
From: Kristy Gayhart <grs...@gormanrupp.com>
We are having navy as our main color also, for our September
wedding. I am really thinking of complimenting it with gold?
- ribbons around flowers, on pews, on tables, etc. Maybe even
glass globes rimmed with gold for centerpieces? I am sort of
limited because our church is draped in a dark orange!
-----------------------
From: Kelly Elliott <elliott-ck...@email.mot.com>
I am getting married Sept. 28. I am going with Navy. I am
wearing ivory and have not yet decided if the guys are wearing
white or ivory shirts, but the groomsmen will be wearing navy
vests. The bridesmaids will cary 2 white roses with baby's
breath. So, the only colors I am using are Navy and white
and ivory.

From: bar...@tribeca.ios.com (Dawn Brosonski)
I'm getting married in late September. I'm tentatively thinking
of a dark green or a maroon color for the BM's dresses ( I have
no "set" color scheme for my wedding). I believe my fiance is
going to choose black tuxes with a vest and the tentative color
on the vest and/or tie is grey.

Subject: Re: Colors - October

Q: Help! I need some ideas on how to choose colors for my
wedding. The wedding is set for October and I was wondering
if I should choose any certain color for that time of year.

From: pbeekman <pbee...@worldnet.att.net>
Our wedding will be the first week in Oct. That's providing we
can get a reception site to coincide with our plan. I'm using
a harvest theme with fall colors of forest green and the others
for accents. I live in the midwest, so the leaves will be
turning.
-----------------
From: hnybn...@aol.com (HnyBny1969)
My wedding is just around the corner (10/11/97) and I am using navy and
silver. Navy is my favorite color, and the silver just makes it look so
classic.
-----------------
From: "Ms. Coleman" <"coleman_edrice_"@ lilly.com>
Many moons ago when I got married, I wore an eggshell colored,
tea length, lace dress, and my hubby wore a brown suit, and his
best man wore brown as well. My mother-in-law wore a brown
chiffon dress, and my mother wore a brown velour suit. Our
accent color was peach, so my MOH wore a peach dress (fall colors
for an October wedding).
------------------
From: ae...@yfn.ysu.edu (Dawn S Bott)
My sister was married this past october and our gowns were a
chocolate brown velvet. Every vendor we talked to during the
planning stages thought that brown was a *wonderful* colour if
it was all matched well, and they thought it was definitely an
underused colour for weddings.
------------------
From: pbeekman <pbee...@worldnet.att.net>
I'm having a second wedding in which I'm wearing a formal hunter
green dress with matching jacket. I told my BM and MOH to select
whatever dress they liked as long as it was formal and went with
a harvest like color scheme. The wedding is either the last week
in Sept or first week in Oct., 1998. My MOH has her heart set on
yellow because its her best color. My BM went last weekend and
bought her dress. It's a tea length dress in eggplant.
-------------------
From: ak...@torfree.net (Nicole A. Ross)
My BM dresses are a silvery-taupe. I chose this colour because
I knew it would suit everyone and they would be able to wear them
again. I still have to decide on flowers, but I'm thinking of
corals and peaches and whites. Very soft colours.

From: ea...@Lehigh.EDU (Beth)
I'm getting married in October 1996, and my fiance and I decided
to use fall colors for the entire motif. We are using a main
color theme of hunter green and white and then accenting these
colors with flowers of other common fall colors, such as gold,
brown, orange, and red. We wanted to be careful not to use too
much red, because we didn't want it to look like a Christmas
wedding. I think there are more fall-type flowers that look
good with hunter green than burgundy. Another thing we had
thought about is to actually use leaves that have turned already.
-----------------------
From: jo...@yogi.contex.com (John Kimball)
I'm getting married THIS October, and I chose a unique shade of
teal. It's not blue and it's not green, and it doesn't match
with any ribbon, lace, etc. that I've seen. But boy!!!! is it
gorgeous! And all my wedding party loves it! And it looks good
on all of them (a brunette, medium brown and frosted
brown/blonde). I've also seen some wonderful shades of
cranberry, forest green and midnight blue that I did consider.
-----------------------
From: jac...@nd.edu (nancy and mark)
For our wedding in October, my SO and I chose emerald green,
gold, and white. I will be wearing a black tux with a white
shirt, black bowtie, and an emerald green patterned vest (to
match the bridesmaid).
-----------------------
From: mzut...@aol.com (Marna Zutovsky)
My wedding is October 14, 1995, and for colors I'm using jade
green and peach.
-----------------------
From: terr...@bigwpi.WPI.EDU (Trish)
Our colors are Hunter green, gold, and light ivory. We're also
going to have a bit of navy blue here and there, because one of
my bridesmaids really wanted to wear her navy blue dress.
-----------------------
From: Kelly Ostrander <k...@iastate.edu>
My color scheme is hunter green and wine. I know this color --
hunter green -- is probably over done these days, but I think it
is a good color for any time of year. I'm only having a very
small amount of another color at the ceremony but using both at
the reception.
-----------------------
From: VDO...@cpua.it.luc.edu (Vicki)
We're getting married October 14th. Our colors are cranberry
and silver. The bridesmaids' dresses will be cranberry, my
dress is white, and we will have cranberry and silver
decorations, as well as mostly cranberry, purple and white
flowers (are there any silver flowers??). We just met with the
woman who's doing the balloons for us (it's gonna look SO cool),
and we're actually having what THEY call burgundy and platinum.
Funny how everyone has a different name for colors these days!
-----------------------
From: b...@embezzle.Stanford.EDU (Rebecca Agin)
We're using slate blue, charcoal grey and cream. My dress is
somewhere between periwinkle and slate (cause I couldn't find
fabric in the exact right color). But it's hard to find October
flowers in those colors, so we're not going to worry about
coordinating that. We'll probably use a lot of spider mums.
-----------------------
From: Dawn Neuhart <dn...@andrew.cmu.edu>
We're using a deep deep green (green velvet to be exact) and
white for our colors. Our ceremony is outdoors, so we thought
these colors would work the best against all of the gorgeous
colors of the trees! For flowers, we're using calla lillies
(sp?) in the bouquets, white gardenias for our Mothers, and
white rosebuds for the boutiners. That's it, that and the trees.
-----------------------
From: <SHO...@MAINE.MAINE.EDU> (Charlene)
Our colors are burgundy with a little bit of white here and
there and lots of ivy and baby's breath.
-----------------------
From: Tempest <tem...@vger.rutgers.edu> (Gale)
The colors for our October wedding are forest green and ivory.
My dress is ivory silk, the BMs' dresses are forest green silk,
the GMs' kilts are Black Watch (navy and forest green), as is
Alex's kilt. I thought forest green and ivory would look
wonderful against the panorama of autumn leaves, which may or
may not be turning by then.
-----------------------
From: oban...@ctrvax.vanderbilt.edu (Keisha O'Banion)
I am getting married this October. I am still undecided about
the bridesmaids dresses, but I am going to definitely make the
decision today or tomorrow. The color really depends on the
dress I go with. They will be solid black if I go with a dress
by Dessy which has long sheer sleeves or they will be "mocha" if
I go with Jim Hjelm dress which has velvet at the top with long
sleeves and satin at the bottom. They are both really pretty.
In either case, the flowers will be roses which are various
shades of mauve. I have seen this combination in various bride
magazines and it looks great.

From: Denise Benning <pau...@astral.magic.ca>
We are getting married on October 7th (Canadian Thanksgiving
Weekend). Our colours are Eggplant Purple and Hunter Green. It
was difficult to choose only because I love the fall colour
scheme so much! It is my favourite time of year. I had also
considered cranberry and navy as other options. It was hard to
finally choose the two I liked the best. My bridesmaids are in
purple dresses. The table clothes will be Hunter Green. I will
use gold ribbons for accents (bows etc..). I am also attempting
to make a Hunter Green cape to wear over my dress.

until I started looking at dresses and got sooooo sick of green.
Instead, I'm having black and gold.

We had a 10/8/95 wedding and used eggplant (very deep purple)
and ivory. I originally wanted either forest green or navy, but
the dresses that my BMs picked didn't work in those colors (the
green was too green, etc.). For me it was more important to let
the BMs choose their dresses and coordinate it with the
reception site, that stick to a particular color.

From: Mary Kathryn <bauk...@com.msu.edu>
In my sister's October 1995 wedding, the men wore black tuxes
and the women wore navy dresses. It looked very classy. One
guest said we (the attendants) looked like.. "Vogue walking
down the aisle." I think that says it all!

Subject: Re: Colors - November

Q: I am getting married in November and am trying to figure out
color theme. I don't want to go with 'tradional' fall colors such
as orange, brown, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions?

From: Chris & Jen <nospam....@earthlink.net>
We are having 4 colors! Wine, hunter, chococlate, and plum!
4 attendants - each with their own color! I was having second
thoughts about it - but my sister said the dresses came in and
they look great together! The "main" color (the color of the
table clothes/etc.) is going to be the wine - because that is
what my Maid of Honor is wearing.

I got married in November and my colors were burgandy and

From: ca...@webtv.net (c t)
Every wedding in my family either had peach, light blue or pink
for bridesmaid dresses. My husband and I wanted to be different.
We had originally planned to get married in June, with red
bridesmaid dresses. Everyone kept giving me a hard time about it.
Is red in summer worse than pale pink in winter? We did end up
getting married in November but I still would've had red no matter
what season. The groomsmen had black tuxedos with red vests that
matched the dresses perfectly. Also, everyone loved our invitations.
I think it's because of the colors. The pictures were awesome
because the colors weren't wiped out. I would trust your instinct
My family changed their minds when they saw it all put together.

i used a black and white theme for our dec. 9 wedding. my mom
wore a BEAUTIFUL black dress that had rhinestone "buttons"
<they were merely placed like buttons..didn't actually work>
down the front and a flouncy skirt. we used red mostly as
the accent color for the bridal party, but we also had forest/
hunter green and silver. i used red mainly since the wedding
was so close to christmas, and the site we used had a tree
already decorated with red velvet ribbons, etc.

Q: I am getting married in January, and I'm trying to figure
out what my colors are going to be. What colors are good for
the winter months?

From: missr...@aol.com (MissRivera)
i really haven't decided yet but it down to 2 colors.. for a
new year's day wedding.. they are maroon or forest green..
----------------------
From: sac5...@saclink1.csus.edu (Judith A. Murray)
Reds and greens are good winter colors, as are blue and white.
You could go with a deep crimson, perhaps with white and/or green
accents (such as white & red flowers with ivy as greenery). I
like most jewel colors (i.e. non-pastel colors), but royal blue
is my favorite, so I selected it. When pressed that I really
ought to have a second color for accent, I selected white, since
it's the color of my dress.
-----------------------
From: Any...@ibar.com (Denise & John Castellucci)
You can have either a deep red and/or forest green. Dark primary
colors would work, with either gold or silver highlights. Brides
are now opting to have bridesmaids to wear white or black
dresses. If you go for all white, you can have BMs wear
shorter, simpler styles in a different fabric. Black dresses
would be great for BMs, since they can often wear black again
and again after the wedding and it looks good on everyone. You
can either go for the black and white ball theme, or go for a
more holiday decor.

I'm getting married in Feb. '96. My favorite flower in the
world is the tulip, so my flowers (and overall color scheme) are
deep purple tulips. My bouquet is very simple and elegant--
hand-tied purple tulips with a little greenery and an iridescent
white ribbon. My MOH's bouquet will be hand-tied white tulips...
her dress is deep purple as are the tux vests, etc.

wine (maroon) & cream. The BOs flowers are white roses and mine
