I need help deciding on which flowers to have. I am newly
transplanted to TN and have no idea what will be available.
Wedding date is May 13, late afternoon. Wedding colours are
Cream, silver and gold.
I would really, really appreciate some help.
thanks
Sandra

Since it is an afternoon wedding, you could go with formal flowers,
elegant, or more of a garden look. You could have many mixed spring
flowers in all pastels or all brights, and they would look great.
Some suggestions:
calla liles (white, very elegant and formal)
roses (romantic -- almost any color)
tulips (spring-like -- many colors)
lilies--Asiatics (white, pink, red/white, etc...)
Gerber Daisies (casual -- garden)
Gladiolas (many colors -- used in arrangements and long bouquets)
It kind of depends on the look you are going for. If you want elegance
and formality, go with roses and lilies in whites, yellows, and peaches
(or all white). If you want a more casual or garden look, go for more
of a variety of flowers, like roses, daisies, carnations, lilies, iris,
etc...) You can have the ribbons be gold and silver to tie it all into
your colors (no pun intended).
I suggest you look through books and pick out what you like, and ask
your florist about the different flowers you find (colors, season, cost,
etc...)
I think what would look best would be a mix of mostly white flowers with
some pastel pinks, peaches, and/or yellows mixed in for a little color.
I would stick to a couple different kinds of flowers with a smaller
flower for filler and some greenery.
You could also most certainly go with a bright color palette (bright
purple, hot pink, bright yellow, bright blue, red), which would mean
different types of flowers mixed together. It does also look nice, but
it depends on what you like and what your personality is.
Deciding what type of bouquet will also limit the types of flowers you
should use. Good Luck.

Flowers like roses, carnations, and chrysanthemums are available all
year as are many other flowers. And May is a great time for flowers like
lillies, so you should have a great selection to choose from.
Just tell your florist what your color scheme and favorite flowers are,
and s/he will be able to help.

We went to a really nice florist and chose Calla lilies for the men, and
roses for the women.
Again
Thanks
