Hi,

I just need some advice. I am going to have fire and ice roses in my
bouquet. What do you think about have just a white bouquet for the
bridesmaids? They will be wearing navy. I would have the boutenierres in
fire and ice roses. Or should I have some fire and ice roses in the bm
bouquets.

If you have a chance.... Try and stop in to a bridal store that has pictures of
brides and their flowers kind of pinned up on the wall next to each other. If
you look at the pictures (this is what I did) I noticed that the brides that
had sharp colors of flowers in their bouquet ... my eyes were drawn to the
flowers and not to the bride. The brides that had white/very light flowers
with hardly any greenery...it was very complimenting and the flowers didn't
take away from the bride. You'll have to actually see what I'm saying by
looking at a collage of brides pictures to see what I mean.

:)

I also noticed that too much greenery looked kind of tacky to me ... but that's
just me.

:)

IMO, a bouquet of just white is almost always terribly boring and
unimaginative-looking. I'm a big fan of multi-color, mixed-flower bouquets,
though, so YMMV. Navy's a fairly sedate color, so I would at least make
sure there was some interest in the flowers.

I agree with Rachel that a lot of just plain white bouquets can be
boring. If you're going to use tipped roses in your bouquet, why not
have your bridesmaids carry roses tipped in peach or yellow for
contrast? It would look good with the navy, and give them a hint of
color that would complement your fire & ice roses.

I have to disagree... at the store where I bought my dress there was a variety
of photos of brides and their flowers and almost ALL of the flowers that had
color in them took away from the bride. The brides that looked radiant were
the ones that had the smaller, simpler, light (white)(pastel) flower
combinations with hardly any greenery at all. The flowers in this situation
didn't take away from the bride at all...

My bridal store gave me what is called
"Helens Hints"...and let me tell you that this woman was fantastic!!!!

Bouquet: A bouquet no larger than 12 inches in width and 18 inches in depth
(or smaller), the same color as the gown, with a touch of greenery (or small
color accents) will keep YOU, The Bride the focus. The bouquet is an accent to
the total look. Express your love of colorful flowers in the altar and table
displays.

I felt this advice to be excellent as she had the pictures side by side to
prove it!

:)

Ah, but the question wasn't about the bride's bouquet. It was about the
bridesmaids' bouquets.

Meanwhile, my experience in watching "A Wedding Story" is that the brides
and bridesmaids with white bouquets usually look boring, and those with more
creative or more colorful bouquets are more appealing. This is a YMMV
thing, though, not really something that can be debated.

I hope that I will be a sufficiently radiant bride that even neon flowers
wouldn't outshine me.
