Chipping is easy..... updating a PAL system from an NTSC disc will brick the
system.

So whats the secret to NOT bricking then?
Does it auto update when the disc is inserted or will i get the option to
ignore the update?
Or do i just DL pal games to be on the safe side?
Soz for all the questions but wanna make sure i get it right

PS: whats the best chip to use and can DVD playback be enabled??

I initially used Wiikey's but have now moved onto using Wiikit's as they
offer identical functionality but have a far nicer pre-wired detachable
install.

Raw dumps are just over the single layer size limit, but once converted to
ISO using unsc04, they all fit on a single layer disk.

Ive not seen a raw dump posted for a while now, and Rawdump2.0 creates an
ISO from the original disks, so you dont need to worry about dual layer
disks ever.....save em for your 360.

When a game comes out that requires a newer firmware, it prompts you to
click to update. If at this point you always refuse it, power off or
whatever, then update using the wii's online update facility, you'll be
fine.
Personaly I stick with PAL disks, but NTSC disks no longer worry me like
they did. As long as you only up date online, your 100% safe.
There is a utility called wiiBrickBlocker that can check your disks are
safe.

If it's a new Wii you first need to check if the wii Controller IC by
opening it up

The D2C cant be chipped with any mod chip out as yet
and the D2B has 3 legs missing on the IC and you need to Dremel out the IC
to pick these 3 points up.

To open the console you need a Triwing screwdriver

The Mod chip I use is the Wiikey there lots out even free one you can mke
with a programmer and pic chip

Wiikey site is here as there are alot of clones out
http://www.wiikey.cn/

To see how to fit it check
http://www.ps2-scene.org/m37r01d/Wiikey%20review.html

The Wii will pay normal 4.7gig dvdr I use ritek G05 fine I just burn them
slowish

Bricking the Wii
Can be stopped by updating the Fw online as it has built in WiFi so just
keep that updated on the Wii
also I use these to program called a brick blocker and region free
Brick blocker stops any WII game updating the Wii and the region Free you
can use to make NTSC game into a PAL game

http://download.yousendit.com/D2DF55A829B65E87

You can also check what games are working fine below
http://wiki.gbatemp.net/index.php/Wii_Region_Free_Patcher_Compatibility_List#NTSC-U_.28USA.29_to_PAL

Some of the Games will not download as a Iso file and will come down as a
.Wii file you then need a
GOD/WOD unscrambler to convert them in dos to iso file

Chipping is pretty easy with a 5 wires install.
Updating using an ntsc disc will brick a PAL wii. Update online through the
dash to avoid any problems.
Games will ask you to confrim an update before doing it so you should be
fairly safe.
I use wiikeys but most are the same nowadays - would be handy if you got one
with an update via dvd feature though (cyclowiz. wiikey etc).
For media I use any Ritek g05 based disc.

You will need triwing screwdriver and a precision phillips to open the wii.
iron, solder, bit o' electric tape and optional wire* for the install.

*depends on the chip

Can do you a genuine wiikey delivered for £15 if you are interested.

Will that chip work on all version of the Wii like the new cyclone as i
havnt a clue on what version I've got?
Also as i read it then, the games are burnt as an iso on the disc and the
Wii plays direct from that? (unlike the xbox where you have to extract
theiso first?)
Any good websites i should be genning up on??
Thank all for you help, bloody knackered today after several hours of
frantic boxing and tennis :-) not had this much fun with my clothes on for
bloody years...............missus knocked me sparko in round 3 also lol

afaik and am sure frank will reply if im wrong
he knows more about chipping then i do :)

all the current chips will work on all consoles ...

HOWEVER

Nintendo have on newer consoles snipped the legs that attached to the solder
points
this means that you need to grind away the top of the chip to expose the top
of the legs
and solder directly to there - not a job id try myself

the console itself is easy enough to open and as long as u got all the pins
connecting the chip
to the board then ur ok with wiikey or similar

serial number starts LEH1248 will whip it apart and see whats facing me, the
thought of taking my Dremel to a 2 day old £180 Wii makes me shiver :-/

The chip will still work, what is different about the new revision is that 3
of the legs on the IC that the
solder points lead to have been cut off.
Similar to the new revision xbox 1.6 where they disconnected the tracks to
the LPC port.

To install you would install as normal then have to wire 3 of the points
directly to the IC.

Some people have had luck with using epoxy to keep the wire in place and
soldered to what they can see of the leg which is very little).
Or to get a better solder point you will have to grind down the IC to reveal
the legs internally.

extract for xbox... hard drive?
For xbox and wii just load the .iso up in imgburn (www.imgburn.com) and burn
to disc.
