If you install the update there is no way that you'll ever be able to
use the JTAG exploit to run homebrew stuff on your 360.
You could run 360 Wavepatcher on the iso file and change it back to a
'Wave 3' game, as long as you don't try playing on Live with it, that
might let you play the game without the update
You probably are safe connecting to live now that the banning spree
appears to be over, but if your 360 was listed to be banned at an
earlier date you'll probably just get it banned from Live which means
you'll lose the ability to install games to the hard disk.
