Hello Guys & Gals,

I had to come out of hiding to post and preach, especially about the
USMC. As a former WAC, I have to say "Hat's off, and a big salute" to
the General of the USMC during the time he allowed women into the Marine
Corps. He said; "If there will be women in my Marine Corps, they will
be called MARINES."

Detect a little jealousy there??? YUP! He didn't seperate them with an
individual name such as WAAC (Women's Army Aux Corps), or WAC (Women's
Army Corps) or WAVES (Women accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service),
or WAAF (Women's Army Air Force), or anything like that...He called them
MARINES!!!

Semper Fi to ALL of you, God Bless all of US!

Hugs to Charlie, Sal, Hollis, Mike, JoeDoc, Marines, Navy, Air Force,
Army, Gabby, Anne and Blackphoot...YOU GO GIRL!

Carol, while praising my Marine Corps, gushingly wrote...
"Hat's off, and a big salute" to the General of the USMC...

Dear Carol...
We Marines know your heart was in the right place when you said what you
said (sic.), But...
There are many Generals in the Marine Corps. I'm sure you were referring
to the "Commandant" of the Marine Corps?!? (He's sort of the Big Kahuna).
And for future reference... a Marine never wears a "cover" in doors(we
don't wear hats) hence, a Marine never salutes an officer in doors (i.e. a
Marine never salutes an uncovered officer). I hope these lessons in Marine
Corps etiquette has'nt put off your enthusiasm for The Corps?!? <VBG>

Semper Fi,
Sal

Actually Sal, the ONLY time a Marine wears his cover indoors is when
he is "under arms". Remember chrome domes, duty belts, and
flashlights on firewatch?? <G>. DIs wore their covers indoors 'cause
they had on duty belts. Two places you ALWAYS uncover: At the table
and in church. To this day it pisses me off to be in a restaurant
(civilian chow hall) and some yokel comes in and won't uncover.

Charles Thomas, once again corrected me by writing..

the ONLY time a Marine wears his cover indoors is when he is "under arms".

Damn Charlie...
Once again, heading to the corner, I stand corrected. (This is becoming a
habit!)

Semper Fi,
Sal
P.S.
By the way... did you win the dress blues and a stripe in your graduating
platoon?

When I met my wife, she said to take her somewhere and kiss her where it
stunk, so I did in fact take her to Vancouver. Bout ready to take her
back there too!

She was married to an Army Capt. for a couple of years, used to beat the
doo out of her. She wisely didn't ask me to go to his next wedding even
though it was a local affair.
Semper fi, do or die!
