Latin coming along

Slowly working my way through Cicero's essay "De Amicitia" or "On
Friendship". I'm also falling back to regroup after a failed attack on
Tacitus's "Agricola", a work in praise of his father-in-law. Tacitus is
extremely difficult for me, um in Latin I mean.

When people insist that the war was "about slavery", what do they mean?
When people insist that the war was "about states' rights", what do they
mean?
Does anybody think the war was "about both states rights and slavery".

Hello awcusans. I'm not interested in the question of black
confederates. What I am interested in is the question, why would
anybody devote attetion to discrediting those who claim there were black
confederates? My assumption: There probably were a few persons of black ancestry who
