My Problems with Obama

* He's proposing increases in the income tax, the payroll tax, import
taxes, the death tax, and is calling for new taxes on investments and
energy, at a time when the government is already consuming over 20% of
our GDP. Yet he promises that all these tax increases won't affect
middle- and low-income workers.
* He wants to raise the capital gains tax by 33% (from 15% to 20%).
* He's proposing nearly $1 trillion in new spending at a time when
we're already over $9 trillion debt.
* He's one of the biggest spenders in the U.S. Senate and has received
very poor ratings from bipartisan fiscal watchdog groups like the
National Taxpayers Union and from Citizens Against Government Waste.
* For months and months he solemnly promised he would accept public
campaign financing, but then broke his promise when he realized he
could get a lot more money by opting out of the system. He even had
the gall to pretend that he was opting out of public financing for the
sake of campaign finance reform! (McCain, on the other hand, is
keeping his promise to accept public campaign financing.)
* He has an arrogant, hostile attitude toward people of faith. When
speaking to a group of ultra-liberals, and not realizing that he was
being taped, he said that rural Pennsylvanians are people who cling to
their religion and their guns and who don't like immigrants because
they're bitter.
* He wants to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, which is the law
that allows states to refuse to recognize other states' gay
marriages.
* He opposes the Federal Marriage Amendment.
* During the Democratic debate at Dartmouth last year, he said he
agreed that children should be given a positive image of homosexuality
in the second grade. The issue arose because of a case where second
graders were being read a story about two gay princes.
* He supports the recent CA Supreme Court decision legalizing gay
marriage.
* He opposes the CA Marriage Protection Amendment, i.e., Proposition
8, calling it "divisive" and "discriminatory."
* He's the most radical pro-abortion candidate ever.
* In the Illinois senate, he even voted against the IL Born Alive
Infant Protection Act, which merely said that if a baby survived an
abortion the doctor could not kill him but had to try to save him.
* He's voted against parental notification and against prohibiting the
transportation of *minors* across state lines to obtain abortions. I
find that revolting as well. Even Harry Reid voted for those two
measures.
* He supports the so-called Freedom of Choice Act, which would abolish
all state and federal restrictions on abortion.

right of a person to pass along to their family their estate, which is
their property, not the government's. Where does the government get
off coming in and taking nearly half or more of a man's property at
his death? And, yes, that's a death tax. It's only triggered when
you die, hence the appropriate term "death tax."
But, hey, go ahead and drink Obama's voodoo economics kool-aid, but
don't cry and scream when the economy is devastaed by Obama's
socialist policies.

things belong to whomever the constitution and laws of the united
states say they do.
once they passed a property tax they eliminated property rights.
don't pay the property tax and see what you own.
those road and bridges and schools and things like fire and police
don't come free.
even if you take 50% of a guy with $100,000,000 he still has $50mil
and i think he will get by
take 20% from a guy with $20,000 and you're hurting him.

far off base to say that from my perspective the Democrats seem just
oddly uncomfortable with the Sarah Palin success (so far) and I cannot
help wondering if it might have something to do with the Hillary
denoument. One gutsy little lady in pantsuits versus a gang of nearly
a dozen good old boy (liberals).
Not that there is anything at all wrong with the way our predecessors
had to cope, the hardships endured in bygone days, and even our
parents generation. In families there was a time-honored (gender
based) division of labor. Moms raised the kids, dads were bread-
winners and war-fighters.
In fairness, how can we single out Obama for the slightly unchivalrous
treatment of Hillary? In actual fact, I myself never witnessed the
least disrespect from Senator Obama. Always he was the perfect
gentleman, yet if we are fair to him, it was his job, so to speak, to
accentuate the differences, and to gently point out Clinton's
weaknesses.
All we know for sure is that Palin has been a lightning rod for
Democratic oratorical or rhetorical blasts.
Strange. In the polls, she fares surprisingly well even among
normally Democratic voters.
Hey, in Alaska she was the gutsy little lady taking on the Big Shots
(the oil industry and the entrenched "good old boys" of the Republican
Party insider club).
