G-325a - Quick question

Hi,

Do I need to file a seperate G-325a form for the I-130 and I-485 or is
it ok to simply file one 4 sheet G-325a form to cover both? Hope that
makes sense!

Hi:

One G-325A for the petitioner on the I-130, one G-325A for the I-130
beneficiary who also happens to be the applicant on the I-485.

Only when filing concurrently, right? My understanding was that else it
would be multiple G-325A forms.

Ummm...that IS multiple G-325A forms. One from the petitioner of the
I-130. One from the beneficiary of the I-130. One from the applicant
of the I-485. That makes three separate G-325A's.

I am sure our lawyer filed only 2 G325A forms as we filed all the
documents concurrently. Then again, if you use the web based G-325A
form, it's easy peasy to print 2 copies once you filled it out. :)

Hi,

This is probably a daft question, but on the G-325a it asks for the
"applicant's" info. Is this referring to the AOS applicant or is it the
person actually filling out the form? i.e Does my wife fill in her info.
on her G-325a form and I complete my info. on mine? Or do we enter my
info. on each?

Also,

As I am applying for AOS, do I as the AOS applicant tick the "Status as
Permanent Resident" box at the bottom of the form?

If, so, does my wife (as the US citizen) tick the same box on her form?

File Number refers to the alien's A-number (alien number), which you
probably don't have yet. Just draw a line through that area.

You will sign your G-325A at the bottom, and your wife will sign hers.
Applicant in this case refers to the person filling out the G-325A.

I would say you can both check "status as PR" box. I doubt anyone will
look at that very carefully.

Hi:

The G-325A is a woefully obselescent form. It or the G-325 used to be a
required adjunct to many other applications. The LAST form to which it
was added as an adjunct were the marital I-130's and that was in the mid-
1980's -- e.g. 20 years ago! [BTW, the "A" simply indicates 4 copies as
opposed to 3 copies of the G-325].

As time has gone on, the use of the G-325 has been, form by form, pretty
much abandoned. The only forms for which it is still required are the
I-485, marital I-130's and I-129F. [The form G-325B is also required
for certain N-400's -- but that is not applicable here].

There have been NO substantive changes to the form in the 30 years I've
been in practice.

Bottom line: the form's language is not really consistent with its use.
Quite frankly, I don't think they even read the damn things anymore.
Let me put it this way -- when I first started attending adjustment
interviews, the INS officer would review the form in the interview and
make their little tick marks on it. I can't recall the last time they
did that. Also, the multiple page form was used to obtain information
from other agencies [e.g. Department of State] by physically forwading a
page of the form. This is now done electronically.
