Can someone tell me what this is, and if it's worth trying to have
techs try to fix (I still have 10 days to return for full refund).
thanks!
Your slow motion problem could easily be due to tape crunching actually.
You better look at your tapes. Don't use any good tapes in any new JVC
until you've thoroughly tested it for tape crunching. Test it with a brand
new tape, though, so you can be sure it is not pre-crunched.

news:393f0c84$0$95...@news.execpc.com...
I'm exploring SDI 4:2:2 video data for my term thesis here at the swiss
federal
institute of technologie.
Since the Rec. ITU-R BT.601 and 656 specifications are that lose, there are
a few things left unclear about the scrambling algroithm:
1) The specification defines a scrambler with generating polynom (1+ x^4 +
x^9). Can anyone tell me, why this scrambler actually uses the bits of time
(t), (t-9) and (t-FIVE), instead of (t-4) what any convolutional codes
theory would sugest?! (It took me about a week to find out why pathological
signals don't work on my simulator!!)
2) Does anybody know when the scrambler register must be cleared? It seems
that any active line starts with a clear scrambler register, because that's
the only way the pathological signals work. Is this per chance? Is it
because there's no ancillary data? Or is it simply because the scrambler reg
has to be cleared at the start of every line? And if so, where else must it
be cleared?
Thanks a lot for any help
