Can't access Versus on newly programmed W5...any advice?

Hi,
I have a DSR922 4dtv receiver and I just successfully programmed the
W5 satellite into my satellite list. I am able to access ALTV on
channel 603 with a clear picture. I subscribed to Versus on channel
421 today but I cannot get any picture on that channel. All I get is
a "cannot find channel - continuing to search" message. The online
people at NPS said my dish must not be aligned although I followed
their website instructions. For several other subscription channels
on W5, I get a message identifying the service and telling my that I
have no subscription. But it can't seem to locate anything on channel
421. Until I can get a tech on the line, I thought I'd ask for any
advice.

Repeak your skew on that channel

I concur with trying to repeak the skew control.However,do not use
"AUTOPEAK" with a weak signal source ( I am not saying it is;it has been
my experience in most cases that when a channel does not tune on a
satellite and all others do,this is the usual fault).
SLOWLY adjust the skew plane in small increments and wait at least 8-10
seconds between changes.If you have gone the full circuit and it still
does not tune,THEN and only then adjust the east west control +/- 5
pulse clicks and then slowly readjust the skew again.My guess is if you
have to go more than 15 pulses (east-west) either way,you have a line of
sight problem with trees,etc.
I define a weak signal as less than 70 on the signal strength meter and
a quality number of less than 30.
You can get these channels to come in,it just takes some work and
patience.
This assumes you have you dish aligned with proper elevation and
declination to the arc of course.Good luck.
