A new web site, http://DtvAnswers.com provides information about the change
over from analog to digital TV on Feb 19, 2009.

The only thing not mentioned is that after 2/19/07 all analog TV's will show
all broadcasts in letterbox format. It also indicates that cable
subscribers will be able to use analog TV's after 2/19/07 to receive SOME
over the air channels; but it leaves the details up to your FRIENDLY cable
company.

That is, all that are broadcast in HD. SD resolution (480i, 480p)
usually are in fullscreen 4:3 (unless the material was created for
HD).

BTW, I'd expect this to change SLOWLY as more people get widescreen
TVs.

Some companies will try to make you get their box, which will work
with that analog TV.

I assume that's a typo and you're not talking about 9 months ago :-)

Why would it? If the digital broadcast is in 4:3 mode (like a lot are)
then why would the TV display it in letterbox?

I Think what you meant to say is that they will all support the 16:9
widescreen format. If not, then you statemnet is not correct. None of this
really matters though if you have a device in front of the TV controlling
the display, like a PC dvr.
