The CAV Criterion edition of Silence of the Lambs is letterboxed, unlike
the regular release that came out a few years ago. It has extensive
supplements and the alternate audio track is very cool (it includes
Foster, Demme, Hopkins, etc).

The best thing is the picture and sound are greatly improved, especially
the sound. My subwoofer found all kinds of things to play with in the
soundtrack, which only intensified the mood. Suffice to say that the
regular release didn't scare me, but the CAV edition, due to the improved
sound, sent a chill up my spine. A worthy purchase.

Cheers,

Criterion has released SotL as a 2-disc CLV/CAV LBX package. It
includes supplementary material such as unused scenes and storyboard
sketches and criminal profiles. The alternate soundtrack features
running commentary by Demme, Foster, Hopkins, and the FBI agent that
Scott Glenn portrays.

And, Special Agent John Douglas, who is the real-life Jack
Crawford...Some of the narration will make your flesh crawl! It truly
brings it home that there really are people out there like Hannibal
Lector and Buffalo Bill...Yikes!

Criterion's SILENCE OF THE LAMBS features THX audio and video to ensure
the highest quality. The supplemental tracks feature Jodie Foster,
Anthony Hopkins, Jonathan Demme, and an FBI agent who specializes in
serial killer cases. Supplemental video includes deleted scenes and stuff.
