I have a Pioneer Elite CLD-59 that blows its fuse every time it is
plugged into the wall. I read a bit on the board about a arc
suppressor that may need to be removed, but I didn't find any detailed
info on how to do this. Does my CLD_59 have this problem and does
anyone know of a link with the details? Thanks!

You don't give your expertise level, but assuming you know how to unplug the
CLD59 from the wall and use an Ohm Meter:
Check D6 for a short. D6 is near the big diode bridge (D1). If it
measures near zero, clip one side and measure again to make sure that D6 was
shorted and that the board short is cleared. The Pioneer P/N for D6 on many
players is K1V24, but they will probably have a substitute on their parts
website now days. You can operate the player without the suppressor in the
circuit, but at the risk of damage (and death?) if hit by another surge.
The suppressor died while protecting the rest of the player from some surge
in the past.

Mike,
Thanks for the advice...D6 I can find! I was leaning toward that as
the culprit, but was just unsure. I de-soldered it from the board and
hooked everything up and BAM! it works! Thanks for your help. Now to
figure out how to get the darn thing back into alingment. When the
tray goes in the laser cage (towards to back to middle) doesnt raise
properly. I have the top off so I can help it rise, but if I leave it
to its own devices it get a U1 code and the CD tray ejects. I am
going to dig back through the archives for topics, but if you have any
further advice I would appreciate it. BTW is there any cheaper place
to pickup that diode? Pioneer wants $21.50 for it currently. Thanks
for your help!

So from the posts here I am going to replace the loading belt and see
if that helps the situation.

Couldn't find a square drivebelt to I found an O-Ring form the
hardware store that did the trick. It works like a charm.

Does anyone know the specifics for the D6 Diode so I can replace it?
I would prefer to pick it up at RadioShack or the local electronics
supply store if possible as Pioneer wants $22 for it.

Thanks!

Available from B&D for $1.25 each, $15 minimum order.

Mfgr Shindengen
VBO 260V (240-270)
Bidirectional.

You can probably substitute a 250V MOV from Radio Shack
