Getting Rid Of Surface Scratches?

Getting a CRC check when I try to rip one of my DVDs. I'm assuming its one of the several blemishes/scratches I can see on the surface. Has anybody been successful in rubbing these things out or getting rid of them some other way?

I will soon have to move from recording with vcrs to dvds as I use a lot of tapes and they are now hard to get easily in quantity. Are there any DVD recorders that are easier than others to program ( set the time for recording ) or are they all about the same ? My mother has a new Panasonic DMP-BD80 Blu-Ray player. The player was purchased here in Canada where we are in Region 1 and use NTSC. She has a few Region 2 DVDs (not Blu-Rays, just regular pre-BluRay DVDs) and would like to be able to play them on the Panasonic Blu-Ray player. Is there any way to update (or hack) the machine so that this is possible?... more »

My mother has a new Panasonic DMP-BD80 Blu-Ray player purchased here in Canada. She'd like to be able to play AVI files that I burned onto DVD disks for her. Is there any way that this machine will do that? If not, what format would I have to convert these AVIs to and what program(s) could I use... more »
