Does anyone know of a way to make a copy of a DVD-R and convert it to a
DVD+R? Have a DVD with family video but no one seems to have a DVD player
that plays DVD-Rs.

Have tried a number of copy programs but they either cannot read the type of
file on the original DVD or they make an exact copy
of the unreadable files. Have also tried to copy the DVD-R disk to my HD
and then copy the info to a DVD+R disk using a program like Roxio
Drag-to-Disk. The file containing the video on the original DVD is a folder
"DVD_RTAV" containing 2 files; "VR_MANGR.IFO" and "VR_MOVIE.URO".

The original DVD-R can be viewed, on the computer, using my Plextor PX-708UF
to play it but not using the built in computer DVD player or the DVD player
hooked up to a TV.

Any suggestions?

Paul

You might try the following, I've not done this but it
should work:

1. Copy the "DVD_RTAV" folder to your hard drive.
2. Download the free 30 day trial of TMPGEnc DVD
Author, and install it.
3. Open TMPGEnc DVD Author and "Create a new
project" then click on the "Add DVD video" button.
4. Find your "DVD_RTAV" folder and select it.
5. Author and burn your new DVD.

If it's the format of the files that's causing the problem then
copying it from DVD-R to DVD+R isbn't going to help.

If it's *really* bacause the players you've tried won't read DVD-R
disks then an exact copy of the DVD-R format DVD to a DVD+R format
should be all you need to do (assuming of course that they can read
DVD+R).

The DVD_RTAV, DVDR format is most likely the
problem. Most players would be looking for VIDEO_TS
not DVD_RTAV. All he needs to do is re-author the DVD.
