CAIG - From alt.tv.tech.hdtv "weak signal..."

Everybody probably already knows this, but I'll mention a signal
improvement I made recently.

Situation is/was:

* Large roof antenna
* Antenna lead into house is split to go upstairs and downstairs.
* The rats nest of upstairs cableing has an incoming inline amplifier,
plus one more dual splitter going to 2 TVs which each have their
own small inline amp.
* 35 miles from Denver digital transmitters

This worked well with analog signals, but when switched to digital,
ONE channel which I really wanted would fade in and out. I tried
everything I could think of in terms of aiming, rotating, talking to
station tech. Nothing helped.

UNTIL I bought a small can of CAIG DeoxIT Gold G5 electrical contact
spray cleaner and crawled all over the house unplugging, cleaning and
spraying cable connections. That took a while, starting with the roof
antenna.

Result: Solid signals! Flakey channel is now as good as all the
others.

If all your stuff is brand new, you may not see any improvement, but
mine had been in place for several years, and CAIG made all the
difference in the world.

I read about the stuff many years ago in a computer magazine. IIRC,
it used to be known as Cramolin Red, although some folks say the two
products are not exactly the same formulation.

Anyway, the magazine article was by an IT guy who swore he had
resuscitated scores of malfunctioning computers by unplugging cables,
spraying the chemical on the mating surfaces and reassembling. I
bought it and I've never been sorry. I need a new can right now and
it won't be long!!!

As an active ham, I have several computers dedicated to specific
projects, including a 1980s-vintage DOS PC that serves as a dumb
terminal. One time, several years ago, it refused to boot, so I took
out all the cards and disconnected all the cables (one at a time,
thank you) and sprayed everything with DeOxit. Shazam! It came back
to life and it's still working today.
