In response to what others think, from what I can see in the threads
most are going by what movies say. I think they are as real as you
make them. What you believe at least to you is reality. For me it's
a combination from the movies. After all isn't that where 95% of
people get their vampire info from? There's a chart showing what
vampires are like in each of the popular movies.

Maybe some of you believe in something completely different. But in
the end, what you believe is your reality.

I suppose if you want to delude yourself, then anything can be real, but
in the end it's just an illusion.

Vampires of legends don't exist, and even if they did, I really don't
think they'd want to draw attention to themselves.

What I do see these days are Goth sub cultures, people who believe they
are vampires, and people who like to add a bit of spice to their sex life.

I am yet to meet a person that requires blood to survive, I have not met
anyone with "magical" powers, or super strength. I have not met anyone
with a problem with sunlight, that cannot be explained by a medical
diagnosis.

Garlic can cause allergic symptoms, a religious symbol does not ward off
a vampire.

I have met people that call themselves Psi-Vampires, that apparently
take energy from their victims. Naturally this is a delusion. I have
been asked to be fed off by a Psi-Vampire, and he was genuinely
upset/surpirsed when I told him nothing happened.

Most so-called Vampires stop being vampires when they see the first sign
of age.

Movie Vampires are pure fiction. Historical Vampires are pure fiction too.

Vampire legends are different depending on which country you're from.

For example a Vampire in the Philippines can be killed with a shot gun,
here's the rub, he can only be seen by his son. The Son of the Vampire
turns up after some of the village goats have bled bled dry, saying that
his father is in town. He says he will kill his father... for a price.

He makes a big show, fires his shot gun and the Vampire is vanquished.

I put people who believe in Vampires in the same category that believe
that the original Druids were peaceful nature wizards/priests. Druids
were into torture and human sacrifice.

Hollywood Vampire vs European Vampire Legend

Common points :-

* Cannot see their own reflection. In history Vampire are evil, evil
cannot abhor it's own reflection.
* Vampires are corruption. Good people cannot become vampires.
* Holy items. Roses, crucifixes, crosses, holy water.
* Garlic. Garlic purifies the blood, hence it's bad for the corrupt
vampiric blood.
* Running water.
* Stake through the heart, and/or removal of the head.
* Can have limbs removed, and can still function.
* Sunlight causes them to rot.

Hollywood unique points :-

* Super strong
* Never age
* Can control people with will power
* Wears fancy clothes
* Can transform into a bat and other creatures
* Has teeth that grow and shrink
* Some Hollywood vampires have remorse at being a vampire

European Vampire :-

* Wears what they were buried in
* Normal strength
* Vampires are corruption, and only the truly corrupt can become vampires.
* Requires blood of any kind to replace the corrupt blood in their veins.

Killing a Hollywood Vampire :-

* Sunlight.
* A wooden steak through the heart
* A silver weapon/bullet (Dracula 1970 AD)
* Putting under a running stream (this can also be a shower, blame
Hammer Studios)

Even when you've killed a Hollywood Vampire, they can come back.

Killing a European Vampire :-

* Destroy the heart
* Cut off the head

Once the Vampire has been dispatched, to make sure it cannot come back,
the head is removed and placed between the legs. The corpse is then
buried facing down, so that in the event that it does want to go walking
again, it will dig itself further into the earth.

Finally.

To see if you are a Vampire. Answer this question.

"Can you survive by drinking blood alone?"

If you say I need to eat other things then you are not a Vampire.

If you say that you can survive by consuming blood alone, I will call
you a liar.
