Hello

I'm fed up with Outlook and want to export my address book and emails from outlook to agent ver 7.00

Can anyone tell me if this can be done and if so how.

Many thanks

Address book

1. Export your address book from Outlook as a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file
2. Import the CSV file into Agent

To import the CSV file into Agent:

2.1 In Agent, go to File >> Import and Export >> Import Address Book
2.2 In the "Files of type" box, select
Comma Separated Values file (*.csv)
2.3 Select the CSV file and click "Open".

To export the address book from Outlook.
These are the instructions for Outlook 2003.
Outlook is a different program to Outlook Express.

1.1 In Outlook, go to File >> Import and Export
1.2 Select "Export to a file", and click Next
1.3 Select: Comma Separated Values (Windows)
1.4 Select: Contacts

Emails

The easiest way is to use one of these commercial programs:

(a) Aid4Mail
http://www.aid4mail.com/

(b) ABC Amber Outlook Converter
http://www.processtext.com/abcoutlk.html

These programs can convert your Outlook email folders into
"MBOX" file or "Unix Message File" format.

You can import the "MBOX" file or "Unix Message File" into
Agent with "File >> Import and Export >> Import Messages".

Thank you so much that was very helpfully and simple to do, I had it nearly right.
One of the problems was that I was not setting this up from my own house and BT would not let me
send emails from this computer. It kept coming back it was not verified from this computer.
Why the hell BT do that I do not know no other isp does it as far as I know. I would think it is to
stop spam, but what about if you want to send from your phone hmmmm.

Ralph I have a another problem that came about with trying to solve the bet one.

I had a LOAD of user net messages stored in the alt.Usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent marked KEEP

But they have gone.

Shall I start a new thread on this?

Many thanks for your time

Zac

This is not that uncommon. I can only send mail through my ISP's mail
server when I am connected via the same ISP, not when connected via
a different ISP. And I have read that Virgin Media only let you use their
outbound mail server when you are connected via the Virgin Media Network
<http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/smtp-settings/m-p/58616/highlight/true#M8384>.

If your phone was connected using (say) O2 mobile data, then you
would use O2 mobile's outbound mail server.

Check that your "view" setting is set to "All Messages".
* In Agent 1.93, "Group >> View Messages >> All Messages"
* In Agent 7.00, "View >> All Messages"

When you have a new topic, it is always a good idea to start a new thread
with the "New Usenet Post" command (and not with Agent's "Reply" or "Followup"
commands). Otherwise your new topic can appear buried inside a thread with
a different topic, and people may overlook it.

My ISP behaves like that, I can read from the POP server anywhere but
not send; they do have a web interface that works from anywhere and if I
have to use it I Cc to myself so I can get a record in Agent.

To help others if they have the same problem with this.

You can log into your bt account and go to email options and verifie the account that you are
logging in from, they then will send a email to that account to verifie it is you and bingo you can
send from that account in A7 no problem.

Thank to all for all the help.

Ralph

I will start a new thread on view etc but yes I have
"All Messages" showing

Thanks

Thank you. I will have a look at whether my ISP will do the same.
