I used Free Agent years ago and have just returned to it after
installing Windows 7.

I have forgotten how to display a newsgroup message in its own window
or pane. It appears in the preview pane of course but it seems like I
remember being able to view it in its entirety in its own window.

Will someone please help me out here?

Thank you.

Press Z while in the message?

There is no "preview" window, by the way. Agent is three-pane, that's
all there is.

Thank you, Jamie.

Now I remember.

I guess I was having a normenclature problem when I mentioned the
Prieview Pane.

Actually, I used Agent way back in my OS/2 days and when I went to
Windows XP I used Outlook Express. OE isn't part of Windows 7 so I
had to look around for a another Mail/Newsreader client. Tried
several including Live Mail and Thunderbird but was not happy with
any of them so here I am again in the Forte Agent fold. Will be
getting version 6 when we come back from our Thanksgiving vist to our
son.

Thanks again.

No problem.

More is different than the name - double-clicking a message in an
email program with a "preview" pane will pop the message up in it's
own window. Agent won't do that when you double-click, it will do
various other things, like launch an attachment or download a body. So
it's a real difference that you should be aware of if you decide to
stick with Agent for news.

Thanks again, Jamie. I found out that is true and I like it even

One other quick questio if I may.

I found in the message list that I am identified as the author
n...@home.com, my fake email address I use in all newsgroups and not
what I usually find which is jsquareg (there is a story behind that
name.) I've not posted to any other newsgroups yet so I don't know
whether or not that happens in them. Have you any idea what I would
have done wrong in the initial setup of Agent and how to fix it
without redoing everything?

Thank you.

Tools/Options/Posting Messages/Personas.

If you just have one here, change it appropriately.

If you have several (unlikely) you can choose which one applies to
each folder, by selecting the folder(s) and then
Folder/Properties/Posting Message/Personas.

I've been using that mode for so long I had almost forgotten that by
default Agent was 3 pane. I normally go "Z" and then "1", "2" or "3"
to go back and forth - and I've got a wide-screen monitor too! (In the
groups pane ("2") it's EXTREMELY useful in reading the full names of
many articles in the mp3 groups!
