The message pane which displays the content of a selected message and
normally appears at the bottom, is completely missing. How can I
restore it?

I searched for others who have had this problem, and many of the
answers suggest using the box that appears at the far right of the
"header" that identifies the columns. This box is missing, so I can't
access it.

Press z and see what happens.

It doesn't solve the problem. Z only affects the selected window, and
I can't select the missing window.

Thanks, your suggestion worked fairly well. The lower right layout is
what I wanted, but doesn't give three panes. Moving over two panes
gives the layout I want, but with the folders and message list panes
interchanged. I guess Agent is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled,
but your suggestion caused me to try different configurations rather
than just trying the upper and lower left layouts and giving up. I
now have a usable layout until I reinstall Agent.

I cannot be sure from this description,

(a) Whether some other pane is zoomed;

(b) Or, whether the browser window is positioned so that
the message pane would be hidden below the bottom edge
of Agent's main window frame.

1. If the problem is (a) that some other pane is zoomed, then
'Z' will UN-ZOOM the other pane even if you can't select the
message pane.

2. If the problem is (b) that the message pane is below the bottom edge
of Agent's main window frame, then use Agent's menu command
"Window >> Cascade".

If I understand you correctly, it sounds like everything is now perfect
except for the Folders and Message List panes being swapped? If so,
that's not a corruption, and you don't need to reinstall Agent. Just go
back to the Window Layout dialog, and tinker with the lower portion,
"Contents of Panes" or something like that.
