There is a configuration change which will do this, but
you will lose highlighting and launching of URL links.

If you are still interested, post back and I will dig it up.

Default Properties are overridden by Property Schemes which in turn are
overridden by Properties for the selected message folder.

Clarification: After setting the override, items downloaded AFTER that
still are not automatically saving the attachments?

What are the rest of the settings on the Saving Attachments panel?
Specifically, "If a filename already exists" and "If a decoding error
occurs"?

Ok.

Hmm... those are correct for what you want to do.

The list is a list of your saved Property Schemes. Click Edit to view
the settings for each, click Manage Folders to view/manage the
folder<->scheme assignments.

But individual Folder Properties overrides the assigned Scheme.

I haven't touched my Properties setup in YEARS. I set my defaults and
automatic scheme assignments a long time ago, and they work.

Only thing I can think of at this point is to delete the effected
folder(s) without saving the data and re-add the newsgroup(s) and
rebuild them from scratch.
