Anyone know of an easy way to find out if a group is moderated?

A few times I've had the problem of responding to a post that went to a few
different newsgroups and my post wasn't showing up. After trying to repost
it over and over, I found out that one of the groups was moderated and it
was preventing the post from showing up. Some groups don't have "moderated"
as a part of their name so there is no way I know of to tell.

Look at the headers of articles in the group; there should be an
'Approved' header inserted by the moderator, and possibly other X- headers
that are clearly related to the moderation process.

Generally, it's best not to respond to articles that are cross-posted to
several groups, particularly if they aren't related. If you can't resist,
either restrict your response to the newsgroup in which you read the
message, or set a Followup-To header to the group you prefer to read.

Moderated groups should not be cross-posted to at all, ideally.

Many people ignore or block articles posted to more than a certain number
of groups (eg 3). You'll probably also learn that some groups appear so
often in cross-posts that you want to block anything posted to them.
