From a half-page ad in *The Spectator* of 28 June 1997:

"Rose Hilton is well known to a wide circle of artistic friends and is
painting as strongly now as she was when she first met and married the
famous 50's abstract artist, Roger Hilton. It has been two year's
[sic] since her last exhibition and this show represents her most
senior work by far. She achieves a marriage between abstract and
figurative painting that at times is masterful."

Would you buy a used painting from this gallery?

Remember Frank Zappa's summary of rock journalism? People who
can't talk reported by people who can't write for people who can't read.
Your only mistake here is to mistake gallery owners for art writers,
though this is a lucid exegesis compared to the conversations you

I can't help it. Since the change of government here, I've decided to
become an Artist. I'm trying to learn the language, so that I can take
the essential first step: applying for a grant.

I've already decided what my first Piece is to be; I'm going to
dedicate it to the former Minister for Arts, Culture and the
Gaeltacht.
