New edition of Common Errors in English Usage

The second edition of my book, Common Errors in English Usage--much
revised and enlarged--has just been published by William, James & Co.

It is based on my Web site at

which owes a considerable debt to the members of AUE, who have helped
me with many entries over the years (acknowledged in the book's
introduction).

My goal is to make each entry compact, clear, and memorable. When I
can, I like to make the writing entertaining as well. The book version
is enhanced by illustrative cartoons designed by Tom Sumner, based on
period engravings.

The first edition sold over 40,000 copies.

The new edition is now available from Amazon and the publisher, but
copies should begin showing up in stores in a few weeks.
