it would be true to state that you have not met them? Like a conviction

Given the state of my memory these days, I am increasingly likely to
make such statements. People I am sure I have never set eyes on do quite
frequently claim to have met me.
But what an intriguing list. And that oddly constructed second sentence.

Sorry, but that Rhiannon is not me.

Solve an old puzzle, Rhi, if you will. Since you are the only person

the Bun a man or a woman?

She was female. Or at least, she was when I last saw her.
Oh good! I always rather fancied her.

In English usage, of course.

Who no longer suspects the Bun of being a bot
I'm just not following this.
Sorry. Bun Mui felt entitled to post any sort of query -- on any
topic -- to the group, and she did, and she usually got at least one
useful response. She was fixated on rock music and some other aspects
of current popular culture. A typical query might be whether a given
rock group had originated in City A or City B. To make such things
on-topic, she was careful always to include the phrase "in English
usage." So you might see something like "Has Bob Dylan ever covered
the song Dancing in the Dark in English usage." It was quite the
catch-phrase around here for a long time.
Best guess from available evidence is that Bun Mui was a teenager of
Chinese ethnic extraction who had spent her youth in Hong Kong and
later moved to Canada (possibly Winnepeg IIRC.) I think we also
established that "Bun Mui" meant "little sister" in at least one
Chinese dialect. I confess to being exasperated by her in her early
days and venting some of that exasperation in postings to this group,
many of which embarrass me in retrospect. It's unclear whether she
was an intentional troll, but she had a troll-like effect on some of
us -- and I was one of the biggest suckers. After a while we took to
treating her as if she was joking with us, and although she remained
mostly straight-faced, she became neutralized.
I have no recollection that anyone from the group ever met her (sorry,
Rhi -- whoever you are), nor do I have any reason to believe that what
purports to be a picture of the Bun actually is.
More trouble than it's worth, I guess.

Seeing that the Bun played an important role in this group for many
years, I disagree.

No, but I know someone who has.
Ah, that resolves the Piddy question. He's gone off with Bun Mui.
The girl who cried in her beer even when she didn't have a beer.
An informant tells me that a Mac Bun, or more exactly Mac Bn, which
apparently means "only good" in the local Rivoli dialect, has been
pounced on by the McPreservation Society for selling agrihamburgers, and
now trades as M**BN slowfastfood.
In English usage, that is.

Was Piddy a girl? I never realized that.

Some days I'd think Piddy was a he and on others I'd swear she was a
she, for Piddy's sexuality was ambiguous. I got the feeling the
crybaby, whose pen name rhymed with and looked like "pity"
intentionally, if I'm not wrong, wanted it that way.

Just to remove all doubt, I am not, nor have I ever been, piddy. If I
recall correctly, I found myself tending to kill those threads that had
many piddy posts in them.
Aw, Piddles was fun. Drunk, mostly, but fun.

If you are saying that fewer females than men have the self-esteem to

I might have been hallucinating, but didn't Piddy once post a link to a
picture, showing him riding a bicycle, or something like that? I believe he
was an avid bicyclist.
--
Skitt (AmE)
I recall such a link. It was worth looking at. I don't recall
whether there was a picture of Piddy. My impression was always that
Piddy was male.
--
John Varela
I don't recall the pidster posting that often in a thread, so that
pretty much killed them by design. Normally just something to start
things off.
IIRC, Piddy didn't capitalize the name either.
Ergo, you still evoke piddy even in your denial.
>On Fri, 20 Nov 2009 18:45:52 UTC, "Skitt" <ski...@comcast.net>
It was a bicycle tour. On the tour, he (I always felt piddy was a
bloke) found a tortoise and asked what we should call it.
I liked the tortoise.
My theory is that it's someone whose name might be evoked by some of the
following allusions:
George Cross
Socialist society
Delaying tactics
The sweet with the less-fattening centre
Broadcasting technology
