From Bryan:
-Dana White thanked everyone for attending the event this past
weekend, said that they will be back again with the best pound for
pound fighter facing off on july 19th and told everyone it would be a
great fight.
-Said that Rampage would need a win against a top guy to get another
title shot and stating that there is a rematch with Wanderlei still
out there...
-Dana mentioned that Patrick Cote would be fighting sometime in
October again, probably on the Leben, Bisping card and said that card
will come out with more great fights..
-He said Liddell and Evans would be the number one contender and the
winner of that would fight in December, thats if the winner comes off
Injury free.
-Thanked Forrest for his efforts and said this is a example of what
the Ultimate fighter can do for a guys like him.
-Quoted that Josh is a great athlete, but needs some more wins to get
a title shot...
-He ended by saying Forrest will have a title defense in September,
and October and will fight again in December in the main card if he
defends
his title in Sept, October.
I give this to the experts in here. So anyone that said 'PageBoy'
would win is not allowed to answer to this. ;-) All in jest. But is
this 'schedule' by Dana a tad too much? Is there record of anyone else
doing this in this amount of time? Three fights in fours months-
surely I misinterpreted {sp?} this. Curious minds want to know.
Thanks,
gregg

fucking sweet
My guess: They want to put on Liddell-Griffin on, or near, New Years Eve.
Zuffa loves making money. Zuffa loves Liddell.

My guess is that Griffin will have an easy title defense his first time out,
Sept. or Oct. It'll be just above that of a gym fight, only he gets a
paycheck at the end of the day. It'll be just to feed the fire and whet the
appetite for Griffin-Liddell, IMO. Given that Forrest fought a tactical,
reserved, fight against Jackson, he needs a rock-em, sock-em bout in order
to restore his reputation in the eyes of paying customers.
Does anybody think we'll see Lyoto Machida versus Forrest before either
Griffin-Jackson or Griffin-Liddell, especially as the New Years Eve
'blockbuster' show? Not I. Sure, Machida might be deserving of a title
bout, but, IMO, he'll get a title bout when there are either no other bouts
which will make Zuffa money or when the public demands that Lyoto get a
title shot (which would mean that the money is there).
No responses. Interesting.
I think he's saying the first fight will happen in either late
3 fights in almost six months, but still a lot. They've been spreadig

That should read September/October. So, he'll have fought in June,
then again in September or October (a 3-4 month layoff) and then
probably the New Years Eve show (2-3 month layoff). To me, it's
possbile, if he fights in September and doesn't get too hurt. I can't
see him defending the title in October, and then having a short camp
against another top contender.
As a side note, Liddell-Rashad is in September, so I guess that
Griffin will fight someone before the winner of that fight. UFC
trying (hoping?) to set up Liddell-Griffin for New Years Eve??
and what happens if Rashad beats Liddell? Rashad/Forrest isn't going to
sell many tickets....
The UFC can't just give Liddell the shot, he has to beat someone. They
figure Liddell will win. If Rashad wins, Rashad gets the shot.
The UFC is not WWE. They can't script all the matches, and set up too
far in advance. They set the matches up, and if the favorites win,
they will be set up for a big show NYE. If an underdog wins, you have
to give them their shot.
yeah I agree totally... I just thought the way you originally wrote it, it
sounded like you WERE scripting it.... planning all the fights that guys
should win to set up the big NYE special..
that being said though I think they do plan fights ..... I don't think
anyone expected Chuck to lose to Jardine and I imagine Dana was pissed not
that his friend lost but because it was harder for him to then put on
Wandy/Chuck with any kind of legitimate reason...
they shouldn't but I think we all know they do to some extent.... fanship
aside, all within the UFC hope Chuck beats Rashad

But judges and refs can have a big influence on the outcome.

I hope Rashad wins big.

I'm not necessarily predicting a Rashad win, just hoping for
it. Although he always just seems to just barely squeak out a
win, he keeps seeming to do it against better and better
opponents. Even Tito couldn't beat him. He's got a chance,
although he's definitely the underdog.
I was about to ask if anyone out there like Rashdud at all, guess I
found one of his fans right here.
As far as I'm concerned Evans is way too boring for me to ever get
excited about seeing on a card.

Well, I'm not exactly a fan, I just don't dislike him, as I do
Liddell.

Yeah. He normally does just enough to get a decision. But
I'll give him credit, because even so, he keeps beating better
and better competition.
