Though the details are somewhat sporadic, Mix-Fight M-1 on Thursday
announced a new reality show centered around the opportunity to face Fedor
Emelianenko.

The show, titled "Fighting Fedor," will reportedly bring 16 heavyweight
fighters from around the world to Saint Petersburg, Russia. According the
M-1, "During the show, they'll live and train in (the Red Devil sports
club)."

Not coincidentally, the owners of M-1 also guide Emelianenko's career and
operate the Red Devil sports club and fight team, of which Emelianenko is a
part of.

The fighters will "once in a while . be joined by well-known fighters to
hold master-classes and training," according to the report on the Mix-Fight
M-1 website.

The fighters will compete against one another until only one remains. That
fighter will then get an opportunity to face Emelianenko, currently ranked
as the No. 1 heavyweight fighter in the world.

No details as to the time frame of the show, its casting, where it will be
available for viewing, or when or where the bout with Emelianenko will take
place was forthcoming in the announcement.

Well... it's not Fedor vs Randy, which is the one interesting matchup
that would drag us all to watch.

But... it's a business idea for Fedor, who gets to make some money off
his name, with the tuf imitation show, but it seems then that this
'championship'bout, will then take place after a two or three month run
of the 'tufski' show which won't run till- when- this summer, fall?

Then... maybe two months after the show, or three or four, the bout,
wouldn't even take place till 09' so it's not even in the current year
unless they put it all on speed dial.

Hey mouthbreather, why did you leave out the last paragraph of the article
stating Fedor and Tim are scheduled to fight under Affliction July 19 in
Dallas and then put in your subject to "fedor pulls out of fight with
tim......." What part of the word 'scheduled' means 'pulls out of'. For
those who can read or those who have someone to read to them, i posted the
final paragraph that the original poster conveniently left out.

Emelianenko is currently scheduled to fight former Ultimate Fighting
Championship heavyweight titleholder Tim Sylvia under the banner of the new
Affliction promotion on July 19 in Dallas, Texas.

Nice catch. Thought it was strange that the article had nothing to do
with Fedor pulling out of the fight. Just too lazy to track it down.

He probably made a simple error, not waiting till the last paragraph.
And besides, you're incorrect.

It's cool around here to hate Sylvia, and adore Fedor... and I kind of
like Sylvia for fighting hard to get back from a broken arm, get beat by
Arlovski, train hard and come back to beat the guy. But I'm a minority
view.

Isn't there enough hate to go around for everyone? ;->

I don't know why so many fans have so many fighters for whom they don't
care. IMO, most fighters come out, do their best to win and show respect
for the other fighters once the bout is over. I didn't used to like Tito
Ortiz for his post-fight antics (disrespect), but came to think of him as a
decent and intelligent person after watching him coach TUF. OTOH, I thought
Karo Parisyan was a jerk for how he came off when he visited his cousin on
TUF.

I thought Matt Hughes was a jerk (very un-Christian) with both the people he
coached and with several of his opponents. BJ Penn, though I love to see
him fight and he's a great fighter, had less than good skills as a coach
when on TUF. Conversely, Rampage Jackson comes off as someone you'd like to
know and have as a friend.

Different strokes for different folks.

I disagree. How do you possibly post a subject header like this and have it
be a mistake. I can see lopping off the end, but when you type out a header
the completely misrepresents the article, it was clearly intentional. There
is just as much hate for Fedor as Tim, neither deserving.

Given the title of the thread the guy started, it's FAR from a simple
error. How the fuck do you even try to explain it away like that?

Mistakes are not intentional. The header/subject line was diametrically
opposed to the part which was deleted. I can come up with no rational
reason how to consider that a "mistake". You're right; no one died. It was
just a bullshit-post, but it was not a mistake.

I don't think it was 'bullshit'. I was interested enough to find out
when Fedor fights and who... that's not bs. It's not all that important
but it's news.

As for mistake or not a mistake, I haven't the faintest idea.
But if one were to make a mistake, and mistakenly assumed that the
Sylvia fedor fight was off, that's how they'd read the headline.

Who cares...? I hope it's a fine fight and I hope
1. Fedor destroys Sylvia, and becomes a true giant killer of a champ,
making for some kind of UFC Fedor fight even more attractive
2. Sylvia manages to climb the mountain, and rise above the clouds,
and
destroy Fedor, or choke him out decisively, which will make a giant
heachace of a situation but fun to watch- i.e. Randy
Sylvia II and Nog in the waiting room..

We found out about the fedor doings and the Tufski show to come, and
what will likely be the schedule into next year for any other
championship bout for Fedor. That's what was important as far as Fedor
and his schedule for the future. Now... why would I have a cow, if the
guy erred and it wasn't Sylvia's fight being canceled.

Well, for one thing, I don't think Sylvia can beat him so what would I
be so concerned about....

Of course, it's be nifty if Sylvia knocked or choked Fedor out... I
mean, we'd all have a headache after that one :^)

That's how I explain it away....

Ah, I see. For whatever reason, I got suspicious when the TS gave the
thread a title, and conveniently "forgot" to include the last
paragraph of the article, which completely contradicts the thread
title. Silly me.

Then let me close out this little chat, with this parable and a note of
caution:

A turkey was chatting with a bull.

'I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree' sighed the
turkey, 'but I haven't got the energy.'

'Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull.
They're packed with nutrients.'

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him
enough str ength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top
of the tree.

He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story:

Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there...

I'm going to disagree with that...not the "neither deserving"
bit...with that I agree completely. The only fighters that I feel
anything approaching hatred for, and I stop short of that term with
both of them, is Kalib Starnes and Matt Serra.

Tim seems to be almost universally hated by the posters in this NG.
I'm mostly indifferent towards him, I think his fighting style tends
to be "boring" and his intellect is questionable, but I admire his
drive and heart.

Fedor is not hated here from what I can tell. Discussions tend to fall
into one of two categories. Those who literally fawn over him in total
adoration and hero worship; and those in the camp (which includes me)
who beleive he should not be considered the greatest current
heavyweight anymore since he's done nothing to deserve that title in
years. I have not seen anything directed at him that makes me think
he's "hated".

Hmmm...

Sylvia is good, Randy could only win by descision because of his
pretty injured back.

Sylvia's only chance to win is his standup. Fedor already dismantled
Semmy Schilt, who is not only bigger than Sylvia but more importantly
lightyears ahead of him when it comes to striking skills. Sylvia's
sprawling might be a lot better than Schilt's though.

An in-shape SYlvia has a better shot against Fedor than Randy.

I hated the way his trainer sent him in too fight as badly injured as he

I think Fedor would finish Randy, but Sylvia would I think give Fedor a
good workout too.
