Ok, now that the "Campy Question" thread seems to be over with, let me just
round it off by quoting a Danish comedian:

"We are still confused, but at a higher level..."

I nominate that quote as ATX-SM's motto.

I second that. I think.

OTOH I thought ATXSM's motto was "tighter!"

But then I'd rather opt for "at a lower level". ::Evil grin::

Not speaking of intellectual levels though...

Firechild.

That's funny. I thought it was "harder."

I third that motion.

And I think at this point that qualifies as an official request to change
the alt.tv.xena-subtext.misc Frequently Asked Questions file. I'd like to
use this as an excuse to revise the document.

We've seen some interesting changes over the past month. And anyway, we
need to review our list of links to related sources every so often. I'll
make sure our links are still up-to-date and make a couple of suggestions
on sites to add and/or remove.

Does anybody have anything else they would like to add or change?

Ohhhh, my idea sanctioned by Authority. <g>

It was a semi-serious suggestion, but if you and the group
think having an ATX-SM motto is a Good Idea, let's go
for it! As long as we don't start a trend; I'd hate to think
what an ATX motto might look like. :)

Forbid the posting of complex and sadistic contests (I'm
still working on my entry <g>).

Seriously, I can't think of anything right off-hand that needs
changing.

Watch out. I'll start writing your name with a small "g" on a regular
basis. *wicked grin*

I don't think we want to go there. ;-)

Well, at least Raoul won't win by default. I meant the contest to be
hard, but one contestant is even more Absurd than I bargained for.

You ain't seen mine yet (and I'm not looking at anyone else's
until my entry is posted, in four parts).

Since I wouldn't want to win a contest that would have me as a
member, I'll at least offer myself a little competition and
let the other bastard win.

I heard that.

Oh yeah...

The GabDrag.

Recently visited by the tape fairy, I have acquired a new
appreciation for the Drag. Local tv cruelly edits violent
content according to formal guidelines for free-to-air
broadcast. Most XWP eps get little nips and tucks and some
get large, bizzare slashes. The Drag was mysteriously shortened.
Where the cuts applied, I haven't quite detected, however it
has become clear to me that something is going on.

See, for the longest time more or less content with the local
version I nonetheless tried to determine what it was that
Xena shouted as she held poor, dear Gabrielle above her head.
Spoilered-up, I knew it to be "Vengeance" but all I got was
a two syllable WaaWaa type of thing. Y'know, some kind of
imprecation yelled at Mr Binks, perhaps. A surreal, cosmic
complaint against comparisson between XWP and Star Wars.
Mysteriously, in the version I saw recently it's obviously
"Vengean...". Thus I gave closer inspection to the length
and breadth of the Drag. And when it's all there, laid out
in clear, gut wrenching detail, it finally has it's correct
emotional impact. All the clues to read it as a sexual
encounter are now plain to see. (Not least of which is the
crucifixion pose struck by a well grounded Gabrielle.)

Initially there are the intervening friends, Callisto and
Joxer, each trying to tell Gab what a nasty old butch is
Xena. And then there's Ephiny, Gabrielle's "I will defend
your honour" type sister. Joxer of course has an ulterior
motive. Did anyone else notice how he clung to Gabrielle's
robes as she tried to run away? Just a touch of the Benny
Hills. Therefore the scene is set for a diligent reader to
see sex in every gesture.

Xena starts with the feet. Sure she spends a long time with
then, and the body suffers as a result but, really, is there
anyone who does not see this as the poor masculine dears
at XWP brains trust having a shot at "foreplay" while at
the same time allowing that to be true?

Then it's up and over and wake up with a headache.

Quando corpus morietur fac ut animae donetur paradisi gloria.
Amen

"You killed me..."

Need I say any more.

Well, perhaps. After all, it's only Gab who strikes the
characteristic pose. And it all happens hot on the heels of
the butt slapping fun of the purification ritual. I'm
thinking energetic, perhaps a little too involved fantasy
life followed by a bit of private time that turned up on the
Blue Scroll series that Gab thought she had carefully
hidden away.
