Subject: Q about "I Want to Believe Poster"
I finally got to see the alternate ending to "Alpha" by checking the final
disc.  (Still not sure why it didn't play when I selected it on the disc that
contained the "Alpha" episode.)

This is the episode where Mulder gets a new "I WANT TO BELIEVE" poster at the
end of the episode.  But I'm pretty sure it's a different poster than his
original one.  I did a search on google and didn't see any mention of this.
But I'm pretty sure his original poster just had a landscape background that
didn't show any trees.  But his new poster showed part of a tree on the left
side of the poster.

Also, that alternate ending didn't make any sense.  It started off with Mulder
in his office putting up the new poster, which is right after the dog/man
jumped out the window and fell onto the post which went thru his chest.  So he
was supposed to survive that???

original poster used from pilot through season 3:

saga of the season 3/season 4 poster changeover:

No one knows exactly when the changeover occurred, but using
Chrisnu's screencaps, the latest episode where I found the
1st poster was s3's "Avatar" ...

... and the earliest episode where I found the 2nd poster
was s4's "Never Again":

2nd poster that replaced the original in season 4:

poster that burned in "The End" -- still the 2nd poster:

poster Mulder received in "Alpha" -- still the 2nd poster:

pics taken on 3-22-00 -- still the 2nd poster:

"William" -- still the 2nd poster:

unofficial poster which is currently being used as part of
the office set on display at the Hollywood Entertainment Museum:

http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Arc/1328/believe.jpg
The X-Files Resource page says this is a poster from the UK.
I wonder why FOX couldn't give a copy of either of the 2
official posters to the Museum?

another unofficial poster that you'll sometimes see for sale:
