"First Person Shooter" can be a term used to describe iD Software games
like Quake and Doom -- games where you see the action through your
game-character's eyes [first-person perspective], and your main goal is
to shoot your weapon and take out your opponents, bad-guys, et cetera.
This episode is set in the world of virtual reality games as Scully and
Mulder try to track down "Maitreya" [pronounced my-tray-ah]. She is a
Lara Croft like computer character. She's the killer! She killed a
teenage boy and that brings Scully and Mulder into the case. Only later
on do they discover the truth about it all and have to face off directly
against her.
Scully and Mulder look remarkably like Doomed SpaceMarines by the way!
They investigate a murder inside the high-tech world of a VR game. The
Lone Gunmen [including GI Frohike] are involved. As the stakes of the
virtual game are raised, Scully must battle with a deadly digital
character to save Mulder's life.
RETURN TO CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN
For the first time since 1992, when iD Software opened the door to a new
genre called the first-person shooter, cries of "Mein Leben!" will once
again fill the air around computers. In an exciting announcement, iD
Software has licensed the rights to develop a sequel to their legendary
action game, "Wolfenstein 3-D," to Activision. The new title, "Return to
Castle Wolfenstein," will be developed at Gray Matter Interactive
Studios, a new game developer founded by designers from Xatrix
Entertainment, the developers of "Kingpin." Return to Castle Wolfenstein
will be published by Activision, with iD Soft overseeing development.
Players will once again assume the role of the Allies' bad boy of W.W.II
espionage. The fate of the free world hangs in the balance as B.J.
battles against the machinations of a Nazi war machine bent on world
domination. This latest sequel will reflect the same over-the-top
comic-style of the original Wolfenstein 3D [+"Spear Of Destiny"]. Using
the graphics technology of the "QUAKE III Arena" engine and a new
scripting system, "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" will feature a
storyline files of online action will be able to frag it out within the
unique Wolfenstein world.
Yeah, I think that the 64,000$ question is: has Adolf "Die Fuhrer! Die"
Hitler survived? - hmm - the last words he uttered were "Eva, Auf
Wiedersehen..."
iD SOFTWARE is, by general acknowledgement, the coolest game shop in the

identified by Freud, id's software development team continues to make

The third chapter in the series, and the first with a 3D perspective.
This game, set sometime in the early 21st century, begins in a ravaged
LA, which was overtaken by aliens while you were abducted. Duke, upon
returning to Earth, finds himself with another mess to clean up, and
another alien race that needs exterminating. Duke is a can-do hero who
realizes that sometimes innocent people have to die in order to save
Earth, so accuracy of gun fire is not a real concern to him. :) The
weapons, for example, kick-butt: There's a mine that can be placed on
any wall and sends out a laser trip beam-- perfect for multiplayer
games. There's also a shrinker ray that reduces an opponent to the size
of a G.I. Joe, at which point they are foot fodder--watch them splat!
You can swim under water, and even shoot players who are standing
outside the water, or vice versa. The Atomic Edition of Duke Nukem 3D
includes the original Duke Nukem 3D, as well as the built-in Plutonium
PAK! And by the way, the infamous Duke Nukem MissionPak "Duke It Out In
DC" features the ORIGINAL FBI BUILDING... did I say Mulder and Scully??

You are a Ninja and your mission is what? Kill all enemies of course!

that holds deep, dark secrets for the worthy Jedi to reveal...
"OUTLAWS"
OutLaws is one of the hottest titles yet to date by LucasArts
Entertainment. The opening sequences of the game shows a awesome
animated movie, telling us a story about a lone man, whose wife was
killed by a band of outlaws. Seeking revenge for the murder of his wife,
he journeys out in search of the killers and the story goes on with a
[no pun intended] Wild West that gets even wilder with a first person
perspective shoot-out the gang of outlaws. Much like "Doom," "Duke3D"
and "Blood," you get the cool weapons and stuff to use against the bad
guys and best of all, you can play this game against other players in
the multiplayer network on the Internet as well as one on one over the
modem. The soundtrack rocks! [Author's note: I ought to know because I
heard it a thousand times and it's a blast!!]

"REQUIEM: AVENGING ANGEL"
There has been a second war in Heaven, and a group of rebellious angels
has descended to Earth to destroy mankind. These angels, known as the
Fallen, are jealous of man's preferred place in the universe. You play
Malachi, a loyal angel who must take on mortal form and stop the Fallen
angels. Malachi's adventures take him from the depths of Hell, to
war-torn cities, to the vastness of uncharted space. As Malachi
progresses, he learns more of the Fallen's plans.
This is a 3D first-person shooter, but it is not just an aim-and-shoot
type of game, since the plot is integrated into the game. You'll have to
speak and interact with a number of third-party characters to gain
information, acquire needed items, or get past certain obstacles.
